Sorry to hear. He was a great voice on safe gun-handling and responsible gun ownership and use. His sanity will be missed.

After
his Heart Attack a few weeks ago, I did not think he would be around for long.
My Condolances to His Family, to the Gunsite family, and to shooters everywhere. We have truly lost one of the Great Ones today.

Many people I know and work with consider me some kind of "gun expert" because I shoot and hunt quite a bit. However, every time I take a "newbie" non-shooter to the range, before we leave I always quote to them one of Col. Cooper's axioms:
"You are no more armed because you own a gun than you are a musician because you own a piano. The instrument is not the answer; the skill to use the instrument is the answer."
The clarity, logic and simple truth of Col. Cooper's quote has NEVER failed to make a positive impression and thought-provoking look upon any of the (often liberal and previously terrified of guns) non-shooters I've taken to the range.
In his long life Col. Cooper probably forgot more about firearms than I will ever learn in my own.
Rest In Peace.

Sad news. Jeff has made many excellent contributions to gun rights and self defense training.

Never met the man, but feel like I knew him well. I've hung on a lot of his words for a very long time.
Go with God, Colonel Cooper...and thanks for everything!
To: AzSteven
Farewell Colonel. You, sir, were an inspiration and a beacon of common sense shining through the fog of these 'modern' times. You will be sorely missed.
God Bless and Godspeed. I humbly offer prayers for him and all closer to him.
