but e-mailing the beast and schmuckie is a joke. Maybe, but it's worth a try anyway. Maybe it'll make 'em sweat a little with elections coming up. They need to know there's an outspoken group opposed to them.

Somebody tell that to the court that okayed states discriminating against students of theological schools in scholarships. It is pure golden rule here, whoever has the gold makes the rules for passing it out.

What if it is a Muslim in charge of your local government or school? I think this law is a bad idea for Christians and everyone else. -ga medicThe law would not apply in a general way to any symbol without relevance to American history. How would it affect a Muslim? -NutCrackerBoy
Muslims can't be excluded. All sects and creeds must be included.
I understand the doctrine to which you appeal, but I can't make sense of how your reply helps to answer my original question. Whether or not Muslim symbols that have relevance to American history can be affected by this proposed legislation is irrelevant since there aren't any.
This law will be struck down by the Supreme Court. In the Establishment Clause case 492 U.S. 573, the court decided that history cannot legitimate practices that demonstrate the government's allegiance to a particular sect or creed.
I agree with you. The law may be struck down on this basis. The question is: should it? The Establishment Clause doctrines have so little to do with original intent that a future court dominated by originalists will, I hope, roll back those absurdities.

One of the best ways to getting rid of left wing pseudo non profits is to cut off their $'s by whacking off the government tax $ teat, they slurp on 24/7/365.
I just received an interesting email from one of my SIL's re sending the ACLU, Christmas cards to overload their mail system. No bad comments, just real Christmas cards.
We might even enclose a check for 99 cents as a donation. It will cost them about $5 to process that check.

It's about time. The republicans have been running congress now for 14 years, 6 with a republican POTUS. Jay, please post the voting record when it's recorded on the house website
http://clerk.house.gov/ or Thomas
http://thomas.loc.gov/. I would like to see which republican legislators voted no. You would never believe how some of these "republicans" vote.

By the way...and I don't mean to be pessimistic..but I see this passing the House and failing the Senate. I'm still cautiously optimistic, but that is what will most likely happen...unless we can motivate some major numbers to call in and voice their concerns. It might make a difference.
