Inside Info: Is Larry Sabato a partisan in disguise?

Many are questioning whether Larry Sabato's issued, then modified, then somewhat-withdrawn accusations against Sen. Allen amount to Sabato unmasking himself as a democrat partisan, posing as an impartial observer.
I can add one new fact that I have personal knowledge of, one that is somewhat curious, and potentially relevant.
Here it is: the person that Allen referred to as "Macaca", the person who was stalking the Allen campaign, is one of Sabato's students, in Sabato's class at UVA. I don't know whether this fact has been disclosed anywhere.
Hmmmmmmm.............

Sabato's mask was ripped off in the runup to the 2004 election.

I disclosed it on FR quite a while ago...others may have as well.
Sabato requires students seeking to get into one of his senior courses to write an essay as a condition for entrance.
Sabato received one essay one day that was quite short: "I am Macaca."
That got the young man into Sabato's course.

I don't think Sabato's wearing any disguise. He's always been left of center. I don't consider him to be a real left wing moonbat but he's a partisan.

Even before. Sabato wasn't exactly "impartial" during the Impeachment of Bubba. Think back on it.

This is dynamite. Sabado never mentioned he knew this guy, yet he talks about George Allen's campaign.

We need to do one of those "whos-who" networks to put this all together.
We have Doug Thompson as close friends with Steve Jarding the Webb spokesperson. We know Mudcat Saunders has connections in North Carolina where Dr. "deer head" shelton lives. We think Larry sabato calls both Shelton and Taylor friends who he knew in college.
We have Larry teaching Sidarth (did he recommend Siddarth to the Webb campaign this summer?)
We have Shelton's wife saying "they told us not to talk to Fox". Who is "they", Shelton was supposed to be operating on his own.

We need you on the George Allen for Senate threads.
I am stunned by the duplicity.

Larry Sabato, an oft-quoted political commentator who teaches a small seminar on campaigns and elections, said he asked students to write an essay as part of the admission process.
Eighty people applied for the course, including Sidarth. His essay was three words, but it was enough to clinch one of the 20 coveted spots in the class.
"I am Macaca," he wrote.

To: wideawake
To folks who live in Virginia, Sabato's mask was ripped off looooong before that. When he was at VCU he was leaning pretty far left in his predictions and analysis, and that was many years ago (back in the Doug Wilder days, I think). I wasn't even that politically active when I lived here 10-15 years ago, and I knew even back then that Sabato was a liberal and slanted things accordingly. I was rather surprised to hear that he'd moved up to UVa and had become a media "go-to" guy on politics, considering his track record here was never all that great.

If he is on TV commenting on politics and being introduced as an "expert", a "Professor", or an author of some study, then he is a Dem.
To: Moose4
He was an undergraduate star at UVA. I'm not surprised in the least that he went back. They probably courted him to return.

Well, per your post I guess the connection has been publicized -- I didn't know that. Nonetheless, it's curious that "Macaca", and now Sabato, are both trying to submarine the Allen campaign.

I was of the impression Sabato's "disguise" was torn from his face years ago. This, however, should prove the stake through the heart of Sabato's supposed impartiality.

Sabato can't be part of their "fair and balanced" reporting.
It makes a mockery of the term.
They can have Larry on when they want a Dem operative to push the Dem viewpoint.

Larry Sabato has jumped the shark.
As an academic, he should have known better to say anything about George Allen and the n-word unless he had knowledge of how Allen's opponent rates on the same variable. If Chris Matthews were not such a biased windbag, he would have asked him "What about Jim Webb?" Sabato would have been forced to admit that for all he knew, Jim Webb's record is as bad or worse than what is being alleged about George Allen on this topic.
Sabato really owes an apology to the Allen campaign (and his colleagues) for his lapse of objectivity.

Terry Michael, who runs the program, is an old friend as is Steve Jarding, an "adjunct lecturer in public policy" for the Kennedy School at Harvard who also ran Mark Warner's successful campaign for governor a few years back.
