I distinctly heard Wolf Blitzer on Late Edition afternoon interupt with a bulletin stating that Nancy Pelosi called for an investigation. Not sure if Pelosi wanted a CRIMINAL investigation and as I see it she was likely stoking the flames of this scandal as it were for political expediency.

So the Dems can claim that they called for an investigation first. If, in fact, the timing is as it seems on the surface.

By letting him go so long. If the stories are true we were warning pages back in '01 then I have some real quibble with the leadership.

Both for letting him stay in the party and also for having allowed this to go from being exposed early in the race to turning into the october surprise +/- a few days and costing us another house seat.

I hate to tell you this...but this is NOT what the dems want..so NO they won't get credit for showing leadership.

You notice that this only askes Gonzalez to look into Foley's actions...NOT the actions of GOP leadership in the House, that may/may not have known for a long time...

This is NOT gonna come close to satisfying the MSM or libs...I betcha Sissy Chrissy Matthews has had to change his clothes several times already today....(sorry, had to).

YUP. Investigation needed, but also what about the AG investigation of Jeffersons freezer full of cash? Hastert seems hot on sex but cold on cash ? Why?

The Republican leadership knew about this pervert since '05. We conservatives must admit that our party has been hijacked by inept leadership that does not represent our principles. We must dump big government losers if we want to retain control of the government.
We must stop making excuses for losers such as Hastert and Bush!

"exactly right. How can anybody accuse the GOP of not showing leadership over this?"

Because some in congress apparently knew about this months ago and because pages had apparently been warned about this guy for years. The leadership should have understood that not only was Foley's conduct unethical and disgraceful but that this kind of information is hard to keep a secret. It would have been best for all concerned if Foley had been pressed to resign months before the general election in as quiet a fashion as possible. Now we are in a situation where a seat we should have easily held is in play.
