On Tuesday, September 12, 2006, Dr. Edward L. Rowan of Exeter won the Democratic nomination for the New Hampshire House of Representatives in District 13 which includes Exeter, Stratham and North Hampton.
Rep. Eileen Flockhart, also of Exeter, is actively promoting Edward Rowan as a candidate, despite the public knowledge of Rowan's sketchy history and views.
Ed Rowan is a retired psychiatrist. He was sanctioned by the medical board for having a sexual relationship with a patient. He appealed the decision to the New Hampshire Supreme Court, claiming the board had no right to sanction him.

Dr. Rowan is the author of a number of books, including "The Joy of Self-Pleasuring." In his book, Dr. Rowan advocates teaching masturbation to children of all ages:
"[S]ome of these messages are ambivalent at best about the normality and natural function of masturbation. We need to teach that it is even more than that. For instance, if adolescent males were encouraged to masturbate using condoms, they would become accustomed to that feeling and not hesitate to keep partner sex safe. But first, they have to be encouraged to masturbate." Ed Rowan, Joy of Self-Pleasuring, pgs. 165-66.
"Unfortunately, acceptance of masturbation is not the same as an affirmation of it. We must go beyond simply saying 'it's normal' and promote solo sex as a positive activity that every man, woman, and child should be doing." Ed Rowan, Joy of Self-Pleasuring, pg. 213.
"Jesus had a 95 percent probability of having masturbated." Ed Rowan, Joy of Self-Pleasuring, pg. 105.
"I'd like to be able to carry a sign in support of the surgeon general, proclaim that 'I'm Proud to Pound My Pud,' and tell the middle-aged lady pollster at the door that I jerked off twice last week." Ed Rowan, Joy of Self-Pleasuring, pg. 16.
"Onan was a hero. He defied the existing rules for ejaculation but was killed by an angry father. A different version of Genesis might have seen him as a champion of freedom, a self-actualized man who thought for himself . . . ... He might have been resurrected a hero. Unfortunately for him, that myth was reserved for someone else." Ed Rowan, Joy of Self-Pleasuring, pg. 211.
In another work entitled "Understanding Child Sexual Abuse," Dr. Rowan revealed that he has controversial views on what he calls "adult-child sex":
"There are two sides to every story. The issue of child sexual abuse is no exception." Ed Rowan, Understanding Child Sexual Abuse, Introduction, pg. vii.
"[T]he growing body of research ... indicates that ... adult-child sex ... is not inevitably harmful. To assume that it is always problematic helps to create 'victims' where there may be none and . . . creates 'abusers' where there may be none either." Ed Rowan, Understanding Child Sexual Abuse, Introduction, pg. viii.
"'[C]hild sexual abuse' is a social construct. Our society believes that sexual contact between adults and children is wrong. It does not matter that the ancient Greeks waxed poetic about men having sex with boys or that in some cultures children were introduced to sexual behavior by designated relatives." Ed Rowan, Understanding Child Sexual Abuse, pgs 4-5.
The Democrats in District 13 are running with Dr. Ed Rowan as a "team." Incumbent State Rep. Eileen Flockhart, who sits on the children and family law committee, is promoting Dr. Rowan for office in the local newspapers:
"This year's race for state representatives in District 13 promises to be very interesting. Democrats in the community have put together a very dynamic team... Ed Rowan of Exeter is a retired physician whose main concerns are that all children have access to affordable health care, that women retain the right to choose and that there is an equitable solution to the school funding dilemma that does not penalize seniors on fixed incomes."

If Dr. Rowan wins the election, the other legislators will rely on his experience and defer to his views.

Only One? Wow your fast.
This guy really needs to be a tad more informed about that which he chooses to pontificate. Onan wasn't killed because Onan was somewhere "spanking the monkey" in self-actualization.
Onan's "heroism", according to the Bible:
Genesis 38:6-10 NASB
(6) Now Judah took a wife for Er his firstborn, and her name was Tamar.
(7) But Er, Judah's firstborn, was evil in the sight of the LORD, so the LORD took his life.
(8) Then Judah said to Onan, "Go in to your brother's wife, and perform your duty as a brother-in-law to her, and raise up offspring for your brother."
(9) Onan knew that the offspring would not be his; so when he went in to his brother's wife, he wasted his seed on the ground in order not to give offspring to his brother.
(10) But what he did was displeasing in the sight of the LORD; so He took his life also.
It is a moral outrage and child abuse.
Seems my clipboard had a misfire. Couldn't have been the operator!
Oh yeah....the guy is certainly a bonafide Dummiecrat.
ibtz
They should get Clinton to speak...
Johnnie can't read or write thanks to Liberals, but at least the Democrats will have provided American students with a new passtime while standing in the unemployment line.
What happened to being self taught?
He will probably get beaten. No matter who gives him a hand.
Celebrate Perversity
Coals to Newcastle.
Well, that didn't last long.
Oh yeah, that really say's alot for the moral standards in our society. Geeeez!
This is what the left loves.
I thought I was rather worldly... What is there to teach?
Does it absolutely have to be a Democrat? Mark Foley is going to be looking for work now and this sounds right up his alley, so to speak.
