North Korea says it will conduct nuclear test
Posted 10/3/2006 5:25 AM ET

SEOUL (AP) — North Korea said Tuesday it will conduct a nuclear test as part of measures to bolster its self-defense amid what it calls increasing U.S. hostility toward the communist regime.

"The DPRK will in the future conduct a nuclear test under the condition where safety is firmly guaranteed," the North's Foreign Ministry said in a statement carried by its official Korean Central News Agency.

Pyongyang has said it has nuclear weapons, but has not conducted any known test to prove its claim.

It is too late to do anything now except put pressure on the Chinese. They could stop it if they want.

Freepers have been doing a lot of saber rattling since the missile tests, but I don't know if we really will do anything to stop a nuclear test.

Is it because China backs up NK that we don't sabre rattle them to the extent we do Iran?

"I thought we going to do something about this?"

Nahh. We are too busy welcoming the taliban terrorists into the new Afghani govt, thanks to Mr. Frist. I guess we should have made this offer right after 9/11 to save a lot of fuss.

Doesn't the timing seem suspicious considering South Korean's Foreign Minister is likely to be elected the next UN secretary general?

Does to me.

"N. Korea will conduct a nuclear test - Foreign Ministry"

North Korea should try a "feed your people" test. The world would be more impressed with that, were it successful. Rotten as Communist China is, at least their people have food.
