It’s time to take off our gloves and start fighting back
October 3, 2006 | Self

Okay, we’ve been knocked on our butts by the Foley disgrace. We never expected trouble in that district but it is here. What do we do now?

Do we sit sucking our thumbs crying about the MSM and Democrat dirty tricks? I don’t think so and if you are reading this on FreeRepublic, you really don’t think so either.

First we need to mentally step back

To work effectively we must maintain our composure and start thinking clearly instead. If we can keep a rational approach we can help get control of the political picture. We are fighting people who are run by emotion. In the long run thinking beats emotion.

Being under attack by the Democrats and the media, is nothing new. We have seen it before and we will see it again. This game is far from over.

They will keep up this attack until it has lost its sting. They overplay everything and this will be no exception. They must do this because they run on emotions not thoughts. Thoughts that make sense don’t need constant restatement. “Let’s throw the Republicans out because a Congressman sent dirty I Ms to a page!” needs restatement because people thousands of miles away simply can’t stay riled up over something like this for five weeks.

When the stimulus is constant it disappears.

If we use clear arguments for American freedoms we will beat hysteria over the Foley case.

What’s on the table

We are the political adults. Democrats are the political children. They believe, as a child would, that if we roll up into a ball the terrorists will leave us alone.

They believe these people are no more dangerous than street criminals. They have said this. This being the case it is up to us, the adults, to take firm control.

As adults we understand that terrorists can not be “dealt with” only killed. We understand that whether Foley is a degenerate or not changes nothing about the dangers we face as a nation. These people don’t want our land or money or lifestyles. They want us dead. The children of this nation don’t understand this and as children, the Democrats don’t understand this either.

They see this as merely a way to get back into power so they can surrender and hope for the best. To Democrats power of party is more important that America’s safety. Some Democrats hate us as much as the terrorists hate us and the Democrats, although being children, Democrats refuse to understand this. Some Democrats hate George Bush more than they love America. Nevertheless, hate can only take you so far.

Hate can be a powerful motivator but love of country is stronger.

Steps we must now take

As we have seen since 9-11, citizenship requires active participation. Letting others be concerned with our future and sitting home on Election Day is just too risky. We have seen how valuable getting up and fighting has been. It has saved us time and again because the Republicans in control have seen to it. Staying on the sidelines now is just not an option.

Make decision or decision will be made for you. It is as simpler as that.

Our country needs us. This great nation is under attack from enemies both foreign and domestic. If we don’t win this fight no one will.

We, the conservatives who meet on FR run this country. The very success of this nation is the product of our hard work and sacrifices. We pay the bills. We fight the wars. We don’t quit. We push weak kneed cowards like the Democrats out of the way so we can run TO the fight, passing them as the ran away.

Let’s take the fight to them!

Let’s use our imaginations and see where we can make things better. Think of things to do, ways to help and go out and do them.

Money

Many of us can afford to donate more money to both committees. I say this because, like you I have sent back empty envelops to the senate campaign over the illegal immigration invasion. Well the senate finally did something so I’m sending my donation today. Please join me.

I’ve given to the Congressional campaign and will give more. Please join me.

Working in local campaigns

Find out where the local Republican campaign headquarters is and get down to it. Offer to do whatever needs to be done. Everything helps. I have. Please join me.

Write letters to your local Democrat controlled newspaper

People who think read these letters. Thinking people are our best source of new voters. Under assumed names I have done this many times.

Under my real name I have written a letter to the Washington Times demanding that because their Human Resources Director is a pervert, the Editorial page editor should resign. The data is in here: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1710193/posts

http://washingtontimes.com/

I have. Please join me.

Registering new voters

You would be surprised how many people you know who are registered Democrats and actually believe that since they are registered Democrats they MUST vote Democrat. Talk to people. If the terrorists were in the next state coming at you, you would. Well the ARE. I’ve done this. Please join me.

We know that church going people, like most of us, vote Republican. But did you know that 30% of those folks are not registered? Ask at your local church if you can set up a registration table. Do it next Sunday. Time is wasting. I have not done this, but have re-registered and first registered church goers. Please join me.

The Final 72 Hours

One of the reasons we won in 2000 and 2004 was the Get Out The Vote operations we ran all over the country. While we had volunteers who were fighting for the freedom of America. The Democrats put out paid union thugs and dirty looking hippie types. I know. I saw them when I worked the 72 hour push in Pennsylvania in 2004. We did great work. We helped local candidates and most importantly we FORCED the Democrats to put people in Pennsylvania that they wanted to put in Ohio. We did help George Bush get re- elected.

It’s all in our hands not their hands. We can hide under our beds and fret about what is coming or stand tall, talk loud, be proud and fight back because we are the only hope America has right now.

Let’s get fighting.

This is an historic time in our nation's history. This is one of those times that "try men's souls". If we don't step up and fight the Democrats and the terrorists win. It is no more complicated than that.

The GOP seems to have a bad habit of using the prevent defense even when they're behind.

I think so too. They went early with this because of Clinton's outburst last weekend. They needed to get him off the front pages.

I've thought the same thing. How many voters are even going to have this on their radar screen a month from now?

I doubt anybody cares about this in the long run.

Who wants to be that Clinton is going to hate being bumped by this story and gets his name out more?

Go Bill Go

We can't do it, the Republican leaders have to. Right now every time the MSM ask the Republicans a question that's based on subjective controversy issues they go into a complete defensive mode unable to clearly state what they did or didn't do. They need to tell the MSM exactly what they did in as few words as possible then tell the MSM reporters,"that's my answer now STFU!". If they keep getting interrupted end the questions right then and there even if they have to walk off the set.

Good post. Reminds me of the Eagles/Packer game last night. The Pack led for the first half and then got a little behind. Once they got behind they kind of quit and then got shellacked. A little Churchill is in order:

"Never give in — never, never, never, never, in nothing great or small, large or petty, never give in except to convictions of honour and good sense. Never yield to force; never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy."

Many more folks are talking about the recent school shootings then they are about this. It's just the opposite inside the beltway.

Do we sit sucking our thumbs crying about the MSM and Democrat dirty tricks?

Isn't that what Hannity and Rush do on a daily basis? Everything that goes wrong is the fault of the MSM and the democrats. Never mind our complicity, they reported it so it's their fault.

Seriously, you're right. It ultimately needs to be a battle of ideas. And usually, the republicans are closer to being the adults than the democrats. But sadly, they have become corrupt with power rather than ideas. We are basically at the same point as we were during the check writing scandals and Jim Wright's abuses of power. The problem is it's our side of the aisle that has the Jim Wrignt's and the Rosenkowski's.

We used those issues against the democrats as well as Clinton's issues with force and glee. So why do we cry foul when they use our setbacks against us?

We need to step back, hold those involved accountable, bandage our wounds and go forward with a message and ideas. Not ideas of what we are against, but what we are for. Not ideas of who we are against, but why we are better equipped to handle the issues.

We don't do that. We blame the democrats and the media. Guess that plays better in Peoria.

Let's just not slink to there level, that's all....

Problem is that anything you want to say now is going to be overpowered by all the screams about Foley and also the Woodward book. Its basically the same reason that Sen Allen is having such a hard time of it now. He's having to spend all his time dealing with macacca.

Give Jay Leno and David Letterman a few more days with the story and that wont be true. Leno was brutal last night and then threw in the punchline about what do congressmen say to other congressmen on Wednesay afternoons? Have a good weekend to punctuate the fact that they dont do anything either.

Exactly. You already have North Korea threatining Nuke Tests today.

when did the Rather story break in 2004 anyways? I am sure Tradesports and other sites tanked the GOP on that also.

Yes indeed the distorted perverted minds using their most special class of minorities to smear the House leadership as covering up sex crimes does expose desperate destructive minds.

I have yet to hear anyone of these perverts present such a united front against the terrorists acts against US.

Just have to wonder if they have sex patrols controlling their favorite perverts, cause they sure are presenting the idea that everyone should have known what was going on.

Dave, he is right. People in swing districts will not care about Foley in 2 weeks. They are more concerned watching gas prices on the way to work.

Dave we as posters at political sites are very few compared to 99% of the country who do not have time to blog or watch Brian Ross. We are the Beltway insiders.

By November 7th world events and Oil Prices will dominate the voting booth along with a DOW all time high.
