You misunderstand my question... he is as liberal as can be... a real dream for the NYT!
As a Catholic Bishop (Cardinal/Arch Bishop) Mahoney represents two things that Liberals can not stomach, moral certainties and paternalistic organization.
Whether or not Mahoney actually believes in these things or enforces morality does not matter, it is the symbolism and the organization that mater to the Liberals.

A priest is assigned to a parish he does not apply for the job and he does not arrive unannounced.
A priest could not possibly work in a parish without the knowledge and consent of the Bishop.
Rivera at the very least is lying.
Is this this Cardinal who has been leading the charge for amnesty for illegal aliens?
BTTT One we wish would fall.
If you're referring to Roger Mahony, then yes, that's him.
It will be a great day for the Church when Cardinal Mahoney leaves office. He should have been given the boot long ago.
Go for it, guys.
Anything we can do to move the investigation along, just let us know. We'd be happy to help. ;-)
