Mahoney is the best friend the NYT could have. Why do they want to bring him down would be my first question????

You misunderstand my question... he is as liberal as can be... a real dream for the NYT!

As a Catholic Bishop (Cardinal/Arch Bishop) Mahoney represents two things that Liberals can not stomach, moral certainties and paternalistic organization.

Whether or not Mahoney actually believes in these things or enforces morality does not matter, it is the symbolism and the organization that mater to the Liberals.

It is the Church and what it represents that the LA Slimes is attacking not the man.

The case gained widespread attention last week when U.S. lawyers filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court alleging that Cardinal Norberto Rivera of Mexico City conspired with Los Angeles Cardinal Roger Mahony to protect Aguilar.

Both cardinals denied the charges, and Rivera urged Aguilar to turn himself in.

Aguilar then fled to Mexico, working as a priest in various parishes.

Anyone who understands the workings of the Catholic Church Hierarchy knows that these few sentences add up to a lie.

No Priest works in a parish with out the expressed consent of the Bishop responsible for the parish.

A priest is assigned to a parish he does not apply for the job and he does not arrive unannounced.

A priest could not possibly work in a parish without the knowledge and consent of the Bishop.

Rivera at the very least is lying.

If you're referring to Roger Mahony, then yes, that's him.

It will be a great day for the Church when Cardinal Mahoney leaves office. He should have been given the boot long ago.

Go for it, guys.

Anything we can do to move the investigation along, just let us know. We'd be happy to help. ;-)
