THE Dixie Chicks' biggest detractor, FreeRepublic.com founder Jim Robinson, declined to appear in their documentary, "Shut Up and Sing."

[ Snip]

Robinson's rep, Kristinn Taylor, confirmed he ducked the interview: "He told me to go ahead and do it."

Second, they've claimed that I sent out a mass mailing to 30,000 of our members encouraging them to boycott the Dixie Chicks. Well, that is simply untrue. I sent no such mass mailing to our membership.

I will vouch for that, but if you do decide to use mass mailing in the future.. I surely want on it.

Lurker Dixie Donks... I had my family call local stations and tell them the truth... that we will not be supporting any station that continued to play your music... You (D.C.) were the reason, not JimRob...

I have to admit, I am proud of our local radio stations... I havn't heard a D.C. song in years. That reminds me, I need to recall those stations again and humbly thank them for their service to America, Americans, and our soldiers.

"Give credit where credit is due. The Dixie Chicks committed political suicide."

Sir, you are 100% correct. Thank you!

Ssshhh. The hurri-machine was miscalibrated this year - it was the new model 30000 automatic letter-writing machine that saved the day!

"Interesting...I never knew that Pasdar's father was born in Iran."
We should change their names to the Dhimmi Chicks. Pass the burqas.

Why does Jim, or anyone else here, have an obligation to be in their film?? Why don't they come here, sign up and debate on Jim's turf?

If we were like these Hollywood types, we would invited them here and when they typed we would pick and choose the words we wanted our audience to see. These folks are dishonest narcissists. No one should "debate" them - they'll clip and cut to win. Cheat.

If Kristinn Taylor wants to debate them, he should ask for a half hour on FOX News - with an agreement that a chess clock will be used to keep track of each sides "15 minutes" of talk time. If Kristinn's in a propaganda film, he, and our side, will not be truthfully represented.

One article about Babs' concerts stated that she had cardboard cut-outs of "her nemesis George Bush" on stage.

OMG - *as if* Babs and President Bush are arch-rivals or something. Upon reflection, I saw where *she* might get that idea, without any "Lincoln Bedroom" invites recently.

Having worked with creating promotional displays before, I can state on good authority that there were two cardboard cut-outs on that stage. One just had motion and audio.

There are forums that claim to, or wish to, or pretend to have an impact in the real world. FR actually does, and that irritates the heck out of some folks. :)

"If the posters on FR brought down the Dixie Chicks for their dissing of the president, I say more power to them."

The Chicks did it to themselves. I don't think FReepers can take anymore credit than you. The biggest Country comedian (Larry the Cable Guy)and singer (Toby Keith, not to mention Reba) have contributed far more to "spreading the word" about those women (only one is actually from the South) and let people make up their own minds, which they did. That is a mortal sin to a liberal. Letting people decide for themselves.

"Somehow Jim has the power to keep their music off the air and prevent fans from attending their concerts."

Hey, I had tickets for their LA concert- and Jim showed up at my door and winkled them away!

I learned my lesson, never again.
