A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

Every night is a three-dog night. The dogs resent me for hogging my share of the bed.

Now don't laugh but I sleep ON THE FLOOR.. my dogs don't know me in a bed. I have a "rough" back & even though I have a good/(expensive) mattress, I find the floor is best for my back and sleep.

I hope this one I posted, is photo shopped. Looking at this pup he's not pleased. I don't know how people can dress up their pups. My sister does it without problem. There is no way at all my dog would tolerate me doing this. I guess it depends on their personalities. I couldn't even put a pup jacket on my dog.

I have some pix of Josy with her "superman(woman)" cape on.
She runs & bounds into water like superman. One day I thought I would get some pix & bought some red material. It was funny & my brother who was in town for a few days went to the lake with me.
Well, she did fine for a few jumps.. maybe 6 or so.. then the cape (long) went underneath her & she got her front legs all tangled up in the cape & began to sink as she was ferociously doing the doggie paddle. She couldn;t figure out what was going on - she wasn't panicky just confused.
I took off my glasses, camera & swam out about 30 feet to take cape off. I did forget to take off my cell phone & that was a causality of the day - not Josy

Yes, thanks Prairie.
The procedure was to have a growth from the eyelid removed. It was a cosmetic type thing & laser used.
The eye was however sore most of day. A bit better today, but I will "guard" it from overuse at monitor for a few more days.

Wow, that was a scare, Dolly. Mom saves the day.
My dog is afraid of her shadow. Being abused as a puppy has hurt her even today. She is getting so much better though. I worried last Halloween with kids coming to to door dressed up. She barked at first and then just watched. I imagined her thinking what the heck is going on here?? LOL

Nice you will get to "doggie sit".. I never had much interaction with doggies UNTIL I HAD MY FIRST ONE. And it was a baptism of fire! I am sure they are much more comfortable with a loving family member watching than dropping in kennel

DollyCali, My prayers going up for all of you. I pray for God's protection for Chance, and God's comfort for the family. Our canine and feline friends don't always get to be with us as long as we'd like them to be...I pray you have many more days with Chance before he goes to wait at the rainbow bridge for you.
Blessings,
trussell

Suffering: How Do We Respond?
LISTEN TO ODB RADIO: Real | MP3 | WMA
|
READ:
Job 16:6-17Man who is born of woman is of few days and full of trouble. Job 14:1
Why is there suffering? You might ask that question when you hear of hurricanes, mudslides, earthquakes, and other disasters taking people's lives. Job asked that question too.
Why is there so much pain in God's world? Consider these reasons:
- We can't escape the laws that govern our universe. We need such things as gravity, weather, and fire to survive, but they can lead to tragedy (Matt. 5:45). Fire is good in your stove, but an out-of-control fire can kill.
- We are a social race. Our lives are intertwined, so we sometimes suffer when the sin or foolishness of others spreads trouble (1 Cor. 12:26).
- Sin brought a curse on the earth and its people. This curse includes disease and death (Gen. 3:15-24).
- Suffering awakens compassion. Jesus told us to care for those who suffer in poverty. We are His partners in helping others (Luke 10:33-35).
As Job discovered, God's world is a fallen place. When we see suffering, we can use it as an opportunity to serve God by helping others, to trust Him in spite of the difficulty, and to grow in our faith in Him.
When trouble hits, let our first reaction be to trust the Lord and care for the needs of others. Dave Branon

Cat, Waiting For The Sunlight
The morning sun is shining bright, Dust motes down the hall begin to stir.. Cat is sitting patiently, with paws tucked in for warmth, Waiting for the Sun to start its purr.
Cat knows how to speak the language of the Sun, She hears the happy thrumming of its voice. And lying in the sunlight while the music plays, Unless shes really hungry, is her choice.
Of course the dog disturbs her reveries, Crowding in to warm like a china bull, She gives a stare that should melt fur. Perhaps her batteries are not quite full.
Reluctantly, she leaves her post, With a gaze of mild regret. Shes very put upon, The Sun winks knowingly back to her, Theyll have a tryst in private later on.

Rus, this is a lesson we need to see over & over. There was a thread yesterday re: the 2 missionary children who were killed by Radical Muslims.. A friend also in harms way put on another thread re: her faith & confidence(not necessarily blind faith that all would be rosy) in God's eternal security as being more impt than earthy safety. Thank you!

I see Pixie still has intact fur.
Charlie must be a very patient cat.
Most cats have a permanent expression reminiscent of the sound of an angry car horn, but the threat is more implied than actual.

Good Morning Dolly:
I'm glad your surgery went well. Actually your "growth" was not a noticeable distraction since your personality overshadows all. I also enjoyed your "pet costumes" item for it usually showed pets in their own "personality depression"..., ya, it's OK to pee on the rug! I'll say a little prayer for Chance for I know he's a great pet.
