Porsche chief's disdain for America
The American Thinker ^ | 10-11-06 | Thomas Lifson

Posted on 10/11/2006 4:15:03 AM PDT by Renfield

Davids Medienkritik discovered deep condescension toward America from a German executive whose company makes most of its money here. Porsche CEO Wendelin Wiedeking defends the German “social model” of capitalism, and implies that we Americans are barely out of the backwoods with our rifles.

Europe’s culture is decidedly older than that of the USA. The Fuggers were doing business, while hunting was still the order of the day in America. Right now 37 million people in the USA live below the poverty line. The gulf between poor and rich has widened brutally. Do we want to have a situation like that in Europe and particularly in Germany?

Why would anyone buy an expensive car from a company whose head looks down on him?

I wonder what Herr Wiedeking has to say about the Japanese after a beers?

"...and who accuses the American economic system of producing millions of poor people at an ever increasing rate?"

Of course, there is no reason for Wiedeking to sell cars in the U.S. considering the fact that his country's socialistic system has eliminated poverty and everyone -- EVERYONE -- can afford to buy his cars.

Yeah it's really bad over here, you Germans wouldn't like it so you should probably keep away.

Bavarian wheat beer is wonderul. Must give them credit for that.

There are a lot of great things German. There is a particular girl, for example...

I always wrestle with this. Some things about Germany are positively sickening, not including the reality of the Holocaust, which words can't begin to describe.

But some things are great, as well. So I'm always torn between making sweeping, dismissing remarks and then having to concede the dichotomy.

Notwithstanding, I am Catholic and I love the Pope, who is living proof that even Germany is redeemable in God's hands.

I love how some Europeans extol their venerable culture, as if they had anything to do with it.

Why go to Germany to find these guys? We've got plenty of them here. For example: Ted Turner. In fact, virtually every American media figure.

Americans were free almost two centuries before Germans. Also, American culture is European (Anglo-Saxon base) plus, sort of the new improved model.

Social Values=socialism=stagnation=high unemployment=high taxes.

Germans are not replacing themselves.
Without change, Germany, as well and much of Europe is dying, while Muslims are replacing them.

Porsche has great cars if you like driving 150MPH (can't do that on the interstate), but not very practical for a family car.

I concur, and further can add the pleasure I have at my family reunions of beating my liberal, West Coast brother-in-law over the head with the fact that my '99 911 Carerra is an ECONOMY car (32 mpg highway)! Of course, not the way I drive it.

And still that says little because of the vast difference of what a middle class in europe looks like (Difference Poland/Norway as an example)

There's certainly still a big gap between european countries. (Norway is cited to have the highest standard of life throughout the world - USA is 10th, germany 20th (darn reunification))

You should be ignored in the US and heard in Germany.

Winston Churchill said it best,"As individuals, the Germans are admirable; as a nation, they are despicable."

Sure, it would be an improvement.

Viper is great for a Circus clown who typically drive cars that fall to bits as they drive around. WOW.....what an obviously ignorant, biased statement.....you only wish.

You got that one right. All the welfare deadbeats I've seen had things we didn't. Funny how those so poor could eat out all the time, have big screen TV, shelves full of videos, stereo systems, computers, drinking, drugs, cigarettes, pets (which were fed better than their own kids), food stamps, free school breakfasts and lunches for their kids, Medicaid,...

Oh those poor *poor people*, their soooo deprived.... NOT!

Americans are barely out of the backwoods with our rifles.

This, from a people who marched hundreds of thousands of innocent human beings into ovens and gas chambers.

This, from a people who elected a psychopathic monster like Adolph Hitler...AND IDOLIZED HIM!

Again I'm sure it's nice and with 340hp I'm sure it's fast. But sports cars do not weight >4000 lbs.

A proper sports car should be light, idealy < 3000lbs.

I used to be involved in converting Vipers to RHD. Their build quality is comically bad. I am not joking when I say that 1980's Soviet built Ladas had better mouldings and switches. The framework is disgraceful, like a back-yard kit car.

That said, Ferraris are no better, but at least they are completely cynically about it, whereas Dodge probably truly believe their product is good.

***I suppose the DUmmies fill up their Porshe's at Citgo.***

Not likely. What I gathered from trolling there (until I was outed as a Freeper Troll and Tomb-stoned) is that most DUmmies are unemployed and dirt poor.

This was especially the theme when the topic of Donating to any Dem came up, "Nope can't, no money." "I'd like to, but am out of work. "Oh no, I barely can afford food." Blah, blah blah - poor, poor pitiful me".

So a Porsche is definitely out for DUmmies. Most likely Bicycles, Yugos or 72 Pintos are their rides.
