NBC ignores protests as governor chats with Leno
Sacramento Bee ^ | 10/12/6 | Laura Mecoy

While his opponent pleaded with NBC affiliates to black out Arnold Schwarzenegger's appearance on "The Tonight Show" on Wednesday, the Republican incumbent ignored his Democratic challenger and exchanged quips with host Jay Leno instead.

During Schwarzenegger's 15-minute appearance, the only reference to the combative California campaign came in Leno's questions. Neither mentioned Democratic candidate Phil Angelides by name.

Leno did ask if Schwarzenegger thought the political ads that seek to tie him to President Bush were fair.

"To link me to George Bush is like linking me to an Oscar," replied the former action star.

"That's quite a leap," Leno said.

Leno also noted the Democratic protesters outside the studio, saying Schwarzenegger's appearances were "never boring."

"The good thing is they are protesting you," Schwarzenegger quipped.

Outside, about 25 demonstrators chanted, "Schwarzenegger has got to go," and waved signs criticizing the governor.

"He does not support the working person," said Los Angeles County firefighter Andy Doyle, one of the demonstrators.

He recalled comments Schwarzenegger made when he announced his gubernatorial campaign on "The Tonight Show" in 2003 that suggested he wouldn't have to depend on campaign contributions from special interests.

"He's raised more money from special interests than anyone else, and he was on this show saying he didn't need that," he said.

"Outside, about 25 demonstrators chanted, "Schwarzenegger has got to go,""

Surely preceded by the standard "Hey-Hey! Ho-Ho!".

Morons.

More attempted censorship from the freedom-loving, tolerant left.

The Girly Boys can put their pom poms down.

The Governator doesn't listen to them and neither does Jay Leno.

The Governator's girly boy opponent may have pulled the ads showing the Governator and GW. Focus groups probably showed they didn't work.

Now they are running print ads and tv ads showing the Girly Boy opponent opposed Nixon in his early years in College. Wow, what a great momento in California politics.

Of course the worse ad out here is the picture of the Sumo Wrestler, Al Goron, pushing for the increased taxes on gasoline supposedly to stop Global Warming.

The rats producing and buying these silly ads out here are living in another decade. Isn't it great that they are wasting their money on such desperate and funny ads.

We all know who his wife is. Exactly how is that related to taxes?

It was one of the worst displays of RINOism I've every seen. He all but ran from the President who is of his own party. He advocated "Cut and Run", open borders, and darn near everything else on the 'Rat plate.

In other words, we got the Dem platform without actually having to watch Angelides?

She is an arch liberal and comes from one of the most noted liberal families in the United States, the Kennedy's. Liberals first and always raise taxes, and usually on real estate because it is easy. I own property in California..thankfully not a lot, but taxes go up EVERY year. Arnie needs political money, not for his run, but for his issues in the state. He needs votes and thats how you get them...by giving to those who do not have...income redistribution. He is moving daily away from the conservative ideas he got elected on in the first place.

As I said, we all know who (and what) she is. BUT, you still haven't established a causative link between Arnold's wife and your taxes.

I pay property tax in southern Ca. where I have done so for a dozen years. The property stays exactly the same as it was when I bought it, no changes, ...but taxes have gone up and up and up every year. The Gov has lots to do with that.

The subject of the discussion is the Gov's wife -- not the Gov.

Are you trying to tell us that she controls CA taxes?
