DCCC pulls Paccione money ( vs Musgrave 4th District )

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee reserved $630,000 in TV advertising for Angie Paccione’s bid to unseat Congresswoman Marilyn Musgrave in Colorado’s 4th Congressional District, but has apparently pulled the money.

“If this isn’t the final nail in Angie Paccione’s political coffin, it’s pretty close,” Musgrave campaign manager Shaun Kenney said in a press release.

“Coming on top of the poll earlier this week showing Marilyn Musgrave leading by 10 percentage points, it is clear that national Democrats have completely given up hope for “Angry Angie”.”

Paccione was recently named to the DCCC’s coveted “Red to Blue” program, designed to funnel cash to their strongest candidates.

Pulling more than a half million in advertising is a blow to Paccione’s campaign, which has raised $1.3 million so far.

UPDATE: A published report (OK, that’s a cheap way of saying The Other Paper) quoting an unnamed staffer at a Denver TV station says the DCCC hasn’t pulled the entire $630,000.

We’ll keep checking. The DCCC money only reserved air time. It didn’t guarantee it would be spent.

Mort and Nina on the Fox AllStars were using this particular race among others as proof that the dims were going to "ride a wave" to Victory in November. Mort said the attitude in America STINKS! He said Americans are unhappy. I do not see any of this on the Mississippi Coast... none at all.

Other polls are starting to show momentum that assuredly is underway. We will maintain majority control and things may work out better than just holding on. Brit even was forced to bring up the fact that these polls are skewed heavily to dims, and he also said that either the polling companies learned something from 2004, even though the actual voter turnout does not show a weighting to dims, or things are actually better for Republicans.

Fred actually said he thought all of the National polls were bogus, including the flawed NPR poll which had more positives for Republicans than negatives.

I was told this news earlier today by someone from the office of the Boulder County Republicans (yes, there are a few). There have been huge smear campaigns against Marilyn Musgrave for months, it is hard for me to believe they are giving up!

Sorros has put out a lot of money to defeat Marilyn Musgrave and I doubt he will give up, even if the DCCC does!

That is true. Musgrave is damaged by the perception that she is a gadfly who is so obsessed with social issues that she neglects constituant service and local economic development.

Can you imagine the nightmare if the 'Rats take Hefley's open seat, knock out Musgrave, take Beauprez's seat... that would leave only Tom Tancredo as the lone GOP House member from the state.

Things are looking somewhat better in Beauprez's seat, but the 'Rat still leads. But that Hefley's seat is in play at all is cause for alarm.

Paccione just received a cool million from some liberal 527s. The money came from a gay rights group ($250,000)and from one of Colorado's big 4 Democrat donors, Pat Stryker *$720,000). So the DCCC money wasn't needed.

I've never thought she was going to lose. I was in DC over the summer and I stopped in her office, her aids were all nervous and said how close the race was.

I basically said don't sweat it. They didn't listen, but I'm pretty sure I'm right.
