Alas...I see your point.
My perspective IS different, however. I see a chippie with an identity crisis.
Good points, but if they leave in the scene in the woods with D'Anconia, the scene at the lodge with Hank Rearden and the scene in the tunnel with Galt, I don't think too many will be complaining. For all its philosophical undertones, there's some rather adult content in that book as well.
I don't really care about her cisis, I'm looking at other things, LOL.
I see the twins are out tonight.
I would go with Rutger Hauer. Danneskjold was blonde.
"...'m already cringing at the liberties I'm sure they'll take with the fundamental principles propounded in the book. Ugh."
After seeing what Michael Douglas did with the "Greed is Good" speech in the movie "Wall Street", I suspect that Hollywood won't know how to handle John Galt's version. I suspect that they'll concentrate on the story line, and minimize the ideological underpinnings as much as possible.
To paraphrase a quote from Herb Brooks:
"A million dollar body and a ten cent fart for a brain..."
Ayn Rand was a Russian philosopher who many consider the most perfect libertarian. If you read several of her books, you could easily fall under her spell. Her non-fiction works I consider more important than her novels which to me were boring .... There used to be an expression in colleges - - "It all started with Ayn Rand".
Noooot Baaaaad! Good Choice! I LOVED him in Blade Runner...
Yah, but it looks like some gang tagged her on her back.
I think the tattoo on her back is just a list of instructions.
I will very likely never meet her to find out. So I care little about her intellect.
And if I ever do meet her, I will probably only hear, "Blah blah blah, blah blah blah blah blah."
To which I will reply, "Oh, yeah, right."
LOL.
I'm sure it was more than a gang, HAHAHAHAHA!!! But don't tell Brad that, he might get a bit miffed, hehe.
The woman is drop dead gorgeous but crazy as a loon. Good looks never make up someone who isn't running on all gears.
"I LOVED him in Blade Runner..."
Blade Runner is my favorite movie. Rutger's lines were incredibly powerful.
ye olde tramp stamp. lol
Very much so. As scary as he was...you actually liked him and sympathized with him. Very good actor.
That's what I was thinking when I read the main post. Jolie is going to trash the box office. I hope they schedule an intermission with lots of strong coffee before the John Galt monologue. I purchased the cassette audio version of Atlas Shrugged and listened to it non-stop from Pocatello, Idaho to San Diego, CA. That monologue was a trying experience as I crossed the CA desert.
