NEW YORK - The city said Friday that it will search parts of the World Trade Center site again for remains of the Sept. 11 dead after several bones were pulled out of an abandoned manhole — a discovery that stirred up new fury and disbelief among victims' families. The family members demanded that construction stop at ground zero until remains of all their loved ones are recovered. They also called for state and federal investigations into the failure to completely remove remains from ground zero. ... Diane Horning said that part of her son's body was located more than four years ago not far from where the bones were pulled from the manhole.

"Oh my God, is that more of Matthew?" she said Friday of the latest discovery. "But it's been sitting there for over five years." ...

Kinda reminds me of those who place shrines at the site of automobile accidents. Morbid to say the least.

Did I say 'tons of body parts'?

No. But Lower Manhattan isn't the first place most New Yorkers would think of when thinking of where body parts are disposed of by the mob or whomever. There are too many people around, too much of a police presence and too many public and private security cameras down there for someone not to notice. The area around the World Trade Center site isn't some secluded outer borough parkland or Jersey swampland. It doesn't make much sense.

"failure"??? Investigation???

The people who dug, labored, - and many who are now dying as a result of their months at what has got to be one of the hardest things anyone can be called upon to do - ...well, I'm speechless. If there's an "investigation" on this - I say a Pox on all who participate...

Nothing is as easy as it should be in NYC. Those folks will get their benefits, but not without a lot of legal bickering. NYC isn't a place where someone gets up, makes a pronouncement and everyone falls into line.

Hi elli-

Disposing of body parts around the WTC? What in the world are you talking about? Have you ever visited that area of Manhattan at virtually anytime of the day or night? It is positively teeming with people...tourists, businesspeople, residents, schoolkids, police, shopkeepers, you name it. Nobody is "sneaking" into that place to ditch a corpse or two.

I'm all for providing education to people about the hazards of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs; and allowing people to grieve the loss of a loved one due to alcohol or drug related vehicle accidents. However, I'm not too sure that roadside markers of the scene of an accident is the proper way to do all that. Presents a visual distraction for other drivers, and can be a problem for road crews as you posted.

I have come to believe the driving motivation behind the delay in rebuilding are simply because the "power that be" do not want to see the towers built while President Bush is in office. They don't want the administration given credit, whether direct or indirect for the achievement of a crowning triumph during a time of war. They also want to deprive the nation of the boost in moral at a time when it would unite the nation in favor of the battle against terrism.

I believe that they secretly hope that the towers can be rebuilt while "President Hillary" in running the show and that will be used as a beacon of successful that her administration can claim. After all, NY is "her state".

I don't think one needs to look any further than that.

RE: it's "Bush's Fault"

By now dummyunderground, dailycuss, and moron.org must have thousands of threads claiming that Karl Rove planted the body parts thus bringing 9/11 into the campaign.
