For Congress: Putnam And Yes, Harris
The Polk County Democrat ^ | 17 October 2006 | Editorial

Posted on 10/21/2006 7:37:15 PM PDT by NautiNurse

Early in the year, we became the first newspaper in the state to endorse the candidacy of Katherine Harris for the United States Senate. We were one of the few newspapers in the state to do so. The press, with few exceptions, does not like Katherine Harris, and campaign problems that would earn no more than a few lines in any other race become front page headlines in hers.

The problems and yes, errors, in her campaign, have overshadowed what she offers to the voters of Florida.

Like many Polk Countians, we have known her since childhood, and have watched with pride as she worked her way up the political system. That is a perspective that few others have.

She chose to begin her campaign with a stop in Bartow, and her father, from whom we suspect she inherited her drive and tenacity, said at that campaign kick-off that her political career has been marked by “integrity . . . honesty . . . hard work.”

Indeed it has been.

For her part, Katherine Harris said the campaign “is not about making promises, it's about keeping promises.”

Beyond such popular campaign themes as meeting the needs of senior citizens, promoting national security, and fighting oil drilling off Florida's Gulf Coast, she said:

“We want to preserve this piece of paradise for future generations.” That's the kind of vision we would like to see Florida politicians at every level of government embrace.

We respect Katherine Harris for her integrity, her leadership, her political courage, and her tireless dedication to public service.

Ours is a voice in the editorial wilderness; we raise it in support of Katherine Harris for the United States Senate.

I did too, I refused to give to the GOP so that they could pass it on to Lincoln Chaffee or some other RINO. That to me is how you make a statement, not by not voting. Whenever I received a request from the GOP for a donation I mailed the envelope back with the reason why it was empty. Time for bed. Us old folks need their beauty rest. LOL! Good night, and it's been nice talking to you. :O)

If you send it back empty. they throw it away and don't record your comments.

If you put in, say, one dollar, then they record your comments.

Just passing this along.

We the People,
decide who is elected in this Country of Ours .

Not Newpapers, neither Local nor in Puke York City .

The people of Florida are not robots, they are not going to be programmed by what they read in a newspaper, nor what they see on TV(much of which is controlled by corporations in Nuke York City) .

The truth will be known after Election Day ! !

Oh really ?

Is that by check or M.O. or do you just stick in a $1 bill in the return envelope ?

Hear ye, hear ye! Go Katherine, win this election and prove all the naysayers wrong. Ok Florida Pubs, get out there and vote en masse (that's a little French lingo for in HUGE amounts!)

I'm telling you what I know from experience.

That's some guy who tried to stick a yard sign into the cement on a street corner, and ended up having to hold the darn thing until all the cars had passed by.

I am praying for a Harris victory too.

I am sick and tired of some FReepers, who should know better, automatically take the liberal FL MSM polls and commentary against her as the gospel (whereas if it was about President Bush they'd be screaming "BARF ALERT!")

The out-and-out hatred against this fine, conservative woman is unbelievable.

Not robots is right. It's taxes, it's immigration, it's insurance (it's not about Mark Foley)!

Hopefull voters see it that way .

If the Democrats keep running on this Foley incident, it could backfire on them and cost them votes .
