Just weeks after 9/11, Ari Fleischer, then White House press secretary, warned Americans to "watch what they say."

Can JimRob file a complaint against Boston.com for linking to his content?

Freerepublic will get all of two hits from Boston.com's readership. Who is going to read yet another article about a fat girl from Texas who ended her career with her big mouth and even bigger ego. I feel sorry for her bandmates.

That's why country music got so mad at them," Kopple says ... "They didn't toe the line."Oh yeah, right. Tell that to Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson.
This poor limely don't know country audiences. I think this whole trip is designed to polish the Dixie Chicks image in Europe.

Don't feel bad for her bandmates - they've supported her all the way. And musically, they've let a woman with an average voice and no sense of dynamics be their lead singer.
I listened to them for the first time today. I like the instrumentals, but their voices, lyrics and attitudes make me wonder how they ever became popular.

I've been hanging around FreeRepublic for several years. This is a great site. I recall the threads about the Dixie Chicks but I frankly didn't see anything that was not much different than other topics that get kicked around. If indeed this site is responsible for the problem that the Dixie chicks have then it must be responsible for a bunch of other things.
If indeed FreeRepublic has such power then this place is also a target.

In my case I blame Metallica for the Dixie Bits failure to sell CDs to me.

In my case I blame Metallica for the Dixie Bits failure to sell CDs to me. In my case, it would be Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, Sandy Denny, Enrico Caruso, Patsy Cline, Frank Sinatra, Hank Williams, George Jones, Richard Thompson, Leonard Cohen, among many others....
In other words, people with talent.

Why do you feel sorry for her bandmates? I've seen them in interviews, and they feel the same way as Maines does. They easily could have stood up and denounced Maines' words, or at least stated that she does not speak for them. I don't have an ounce of sympathy for any of them.

actually I prefer being an arch conservative...as in:

If indeed this site is responsible for the problem that the Dixie chicks have then it must be responsible for a bunch of other things.Only in their minds. Liberals always have to play the victim and blame someone else. Fat Nat couldn't keep her mouth shut and even as the original comment was starting to fade, she made more, essentially calling her fans ignorant rednecks. If you want to meet a singer who supports our efforts to bring freedom to Iraq listen to this lady:

We are definitely a target, but we do not have that kind of power. (would that we did.) We are just the loonie left's favorite excuse for their self inflicted wounds.

Why, pray tell, does the press frequently use such prefixes as "arch-", "ultra-", and "extreme" before the term "conservative" but never in connection with with the terms "liberal" or "left"???
