NBC Just Did a Hit Piece on Halliburton (media bias alert)
NBC Nightly News | 10/30/06 | Philip Freneau

Posted on 10/30/2006 3:50:01 PM PST by PhilipFreneau

NBC Nightly News just did a hit piece on Halliburton, alleging accounting discrepancies. There is absolutely no proof -- only allegations.

But this is one week from the election, and NBC is in lockstep with the DNC to do everything possible to help the Democrat party takes over. A hit piece on Dick Cheney's old company was in order.

Note that NBC has yet to point out that Halliburton was the Clinton Administration's company-of-choice for war reconstruction efforts. When Halliburton was underbid on a contract, Clinton stepped-in and awarded a contract to Halliburton anyway. And Al Gore gave Halliburton an award for its outstanding service in war reconstruction efforts. Of course, that was before Dick Cheney became the Vice President.

I think Halliburton/KBR are being asked about their prevailing wages among other things that keep them competitive in Iraq which of course are not for publication.

" Challenged on the practice by SIGIR and the Defense Contract Management Agency, KBR officials argued the company's labeling of the data was proper. "KBR has encountered situations in the past where extremely competition-sensitive data has found its way to the press and/or to the Internet. As a result, this data is being properly protected," company officials said in response to a DCMA request that inappropriate labels be removed.

In an e-mail response to questions on Monday, company spokeswoman Cathy Mann wrote, "The company has received acknowledgement and concurrence that the use of [FAR] proprietary data markings is not only encouraged, but required as part of the U.S. Economic Espionage Act as well as the U.S. Trade Secrets Act... KBR has included proprietary markings on the majority of its data and property in support of its government contracts for the U.S. Army for at least the last decade."

Timing is everything isn't it?

Myers opened with 13,000 missing Glocks in Iraq.
No documentation-just that NBC says they're missing and in the hands of terrorists because the military did not properly record the serial numbers. Again- no documentation , just the word of NBC.
When Myers segued into her Halliburton hit piece, the clear implication was that Halliburton was also responsible fo the missing Glocks.

>>>Is this true?<<<

Note that Lisa quoted only one named source - Bowen

So, the answer is no, because it is NOT TRUE,

or the answer is NO because the named source did not provide proof?

just wondering

Whether it is "true" or not is currently anybody's guess. The report was based on allegations, not proof, so it was a Smear! It was timed to have the maximum political effect against the GOP.

So the allegations could be true?

Why, if false, wouldn't these allegations be immediately trumped by the truth, and served with a giant side dish of indignation?

Personally, as a cynic, I expect smears, so i don't care if that is the case.

But, I am quite interested, as an American, if there is war profiteering going on..........................

Thanks for your info.

>>>So the allegations could be true?<<<

And they could be false (most likely in this case considering the Smear was by NBC). But I see by the direction of your last few posts that you are bying into the Smear. How does that statement by Rush go? "It is not whether Halliburton did anything wrong. It is the serious of the charge."

>>>But, I am quite interested, as an American, if there is war profiteering going on.<<<

Then do your research. But please leave the speculation and unsubstantiated allegations (e.g., SMEAR) to the low-lifes on the left, unless you are one of them.

It's your thread.....................

Are you interested in the truth, or in making your point?

I was hoping that these smears could be proved FALSE here on your thread............I'll ping you if my research turns up anything..........

It's awfully convenient that California Senator Dianne Feinstein and her husband, Richard Blum, are majority stockholders in a company called URS Corporation which provides the same services as Halliburton.

URS is the largest global engineering design firm and a leading U.S. federal government contractor providing a comprehensive range of professional planning, design, systems engineering and technical assistance, program and construction management, and operations and maintenance services. We have 29,400 employees in two divisions: the URS Division and the EG&G Division, which includes the operations of Lear Siegler Services. Together, we serve the U.S. federal government, state and local government agencies and private-industry clients, including Fortune 500 companies worldwide.

How do you prove a smear false?

How will you prove your research accurate?

This anti=Haliburton screed to so childish. It is nothing but anit-capitalism at its most ridiculous. That is why the left hates Haliburton... It is a corporation and it works doing military and oil field work. Who do they expect us to use to supply food, maintance, porti potties, tents, build the temporary bases. laundry services etc. for our army. Do they think we should have our military people peeling potatoes again. How much do you think that would cost?

How do you prove a smear false?

The allegations are that halliburton is guilty of being paid for service they did not perform, right?

If untrue, it would be quite easy to refute, don't you think?

How will you prove your research accurate?

well, research is either accurate or it is not, there is very little to prove.
