Dems' Disdain For The Military (Michelle Malkin Hits Home Run Alert)
Worldnetdaily.com ^ | 11/01/2006 | Michelle Malkin

Posted on 11/01/2006 1:52:11 AM PST by goldstategop

The Democrats' failed 2004 presidential candidate, Sen. John Kerry, may have just sabotaged his party's highest hopes for the 2006 midterm elections. Karl Rove himself couldn't have engineered a better campaign reminder of the Democrats' utter lack of credibility when it comes to supporting, respecting and leading America's military.

Here is what Sen. Kerry told an audience of young people at a campaign event on the Pasadena City College campus on Monday held for losing California Democrat gubernatorial challenger Phil Angelides:

"You know, education, if you make the most of it, if you study hard and you do your homework, and you make an effort to be smart, uh, you, you can do well. If you don't, you get stuck in Iraq."

And this man aspired to be our nation's 21st-century commander in chief with that Neanderthal 1960s attitude? Both a local NBC news affiliate reporter and a Pasadena Star-News reporter mentioned Kerry's statement without fully realizing the condescending slam against our, ahem, all-volunteer armed forces embedded in the remarks. The Star-News did observe that the derisive comment was met with "a mixture of laughter and gasps." But it wasn't until after KFI-AM Los Angeles radio show host John Ziegler posted the audio on the Internet and a YouTube user posted video of the event that a firestorm broke out on the airwaves and across the right side of the blogosphere.

America has the best-trained, most professional, most well-educated military in the world. But the moonbats want only to hear the myths of the soldier-as-victim or the soldier-as-brutalizer or soldier-as-indentured servant. Never mind that for every two volunteer recruits coming from the poorest neighborhoods, there are three recruits coming from the richest neighborhoods, as the Heritage Foundation recently reported. Never mind that 99.9 percent of the enlisted force have at least a high school education. Never mind that 49.2 percent of officers have advanced or professional degrees; 39.4 percent have master's degrees; 8.5 percent have professional degrees; and 1.3 percent have doctorate degrees.

Kerry's response to the backlash from military families around the globe? An adviser admitted to the National Journal that his boss's botched warning to students was "mangled." But a Kerry press release instead attacked Rush Limbaugh, White House spokesman Tony Snow and "assorted right-wing nut-jobs" (present!) for the words that came out of his mouth and his mouth alone. The Associated Press water-carrier for Kerry and the Dems, left-wing reporter Jennifer Loven, dutifully recycled the Democrat line that Kerry was really targeting President Bush, not the lazy, uneducated troops "stuck in Iraq."

Nonsense. The intent was clear enough for at least some in the audience to "gasp," as the local reporter on the scene described.

This is no isolated case of Democrat incompetence and insensitivity toward the military. Kerry's party is the party of Dick Durbin, who likened American interrogators and Gitmo military staff to Nazis, Soviet gulag operators and genocidal maniac Pol Pot.

Kerry's party is the party of Patty Murray, who praised Osama bin Laden's charity work with nary a nod to our men and women in uniform who have sailed and flown to the most far-flung regions of the world on reconstruction and humanitarian missions. Kerry's party is the party that approved of him tarring American troops as terrorizers in Iraq last year.

And Kerry's party is the party whose national party website couldn't even find an American soldier to illustrate a page dedicated to "Veterans and Military Families." Until a military reader of my blog called attention to it, the DNC site erroneously featured a photo of a Canadian soldier named "Abdul" in its attempt to show support for American troops.

Can you trust a party with such entrenched disdain and contempt for the military to use that power well and wisely at a time of war? America made a choice in 2004. Two years later, the Democrats have said and done nothing to earn the nation's endorsement now.

The Democrats have a disdain for our military and for the war against Islamofascism. How can we allow people with John F. Kerry's world view back in power? Quite simply put, we can't afford the prospect. Nothing in the party's record has earned them the nation's trust. Michelle Malkin has hit a home run with this column. Vote against the party that loathes our military and wants to wave the White Flag on Nov. 7th.

My belief in a GOP win for both houses is based on the dying numbers within the MSM. Look at the newspaper lay-offs, Couric's C-BS "news" beaten by Magilla Gorilla re-runs. It goes on and on. Rush has 20 million+ listeners everyday! Katie, Larry, Matthews et al can't come close collectively! NO ONE IS BUYING THEIR TRIPE!

No doubt MSM is in trouble. It is as if they could reverse their decline by attacking the GOP and Bush. If that were true they would be in better shape today.

Gots to wonder what the dems are saying in private about the baboso Kerry Now?
Mr. Kerry couldn't have done a worse job for his fellow dems if Mr. Rove himself had written Kerrys speach. And fool gigalo that he is he fails to understand his own stupidity.
Like all koolaide drinking dems, it's all bush's fault.
Thanks John, we're back in the race.
Keep talking fool.

You wrote, "My belief in a GOP win for both houses is based on the dying numbers within the MSM."

Now that is an interesting idea, worth following up with some precision. I wonder if there is a relationship between GOP advance and MSM decline--and I'm not talking exclusively about newspapers, since the Internet has cut into hard-copy media across the board. Could one do a comparative study of, say, rise or fall of NYT circulation or CNN viewership against the rise or fall of the number of registered Republicans or self-identified conservatives over the same time period? Would such a comparison be meaningful? Would the two have a relationship?

Sorry. I've been working all night on a project, so I'm rambling, but I can't get the concept out of my head. If there is an inverse pattern--one going up, one going down--then it might prove useful.

They're probably quoting the words of the great and magnificent Bryant Gumble: "What a F.....G idiot."

Does anyone have a source for that, or better yet, the picture? I'm former military and a daily poster on FR... but I don't remember THAT little gem.

Many Democrats have already isolated themselves from this before the incident.

Look at how many Dem candidates have the "D" next to their names on their signage. Look at how many Dem candidates are backing out of debates.

They are cowards. And Kerry is the leading coward of them all.

I don't remember the exact sequence of events that led to the all volunteer military other than the beginning event which was the Vietnam War. The left would just love to have the draft back so they could beat the country senseless every day on TV and on the front page of every leftist magazine and tabloid with the names and faces of the dead. Its bad enough that they maintain their countdown of the dead in the War on Terror. The blood of our dead in this war is on the hands of the terrorist enabler left wing filth in our country as much as it is on the hands of the terrorist filth themselves.

Terrific article! Thanks for posting this Malkin gem.
By the way, almost lost in this example of more anti-Americanism from JF'nK is the fact that he was in CA campaigning for Angelides. After these toxic remarks, no one will be asking this pompass loser to come appear on their behalf for a while...another plus for the country.

Our DemonRat senatorial candidate here in Tennessee, slick Harold Ford, Jr., is at the pinnacle of their deceptive advertising operation. His slickly produced TV ads show him, the most liberal representative from Tennessee, talking like a conservative Republican and they never even mention he's a DemonRat. Fortunately, the Pubbies have caught on to this and the RNC and RSCC are both running good, hard-hitting ads attacking him for his lying slickness.

Actually a lot of Democratic congressional candidates are talking like conservatives and avoiding mentioning they are Democrats. They are aware the "D" label doesn't play well in much of the country.

That's the really bad thing; they're trying to llie their way to victory anad some might be able to. If the RNC puts together a good serties of ads starring Kerry and tying each of the DemonRat candidates to him, they shouldn't be able to get away with this.
