SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — In the downtown headquarters of those opposing a ban on nearly all abortions in this state, there are notes from around the country taped up and down the hallway: “They need to butt out of women’s lives” and “Why did S.D. vote for this?”

Leslee Unruh of VoteYesforLife, especially angry over Neil Horsley's Truth Trucks of aborted fetuses and the filming of parents planning abortions in Sioux Falls during this past month (Abortioncams.com) seems to be taking on similarities to the attitude of Daschle described by Political scientist Bill Richardson at the University of South Dakota in the Nov. 3, 2004 article below...

"You separate yourself from your opponent by trying to distinguish the ways in which you are different -- particularly when you are trying to characterize yourself as the person who best represents the values of your state. The negative ads did that -- the negative ads worked, and they also boosted turnout," said Richardson.

Daschle's Defeat 2004

“That’s what the old way was, and that’s why they were losing all these years.”, "I refuse to show pictures of dead babies,” says Unruh about the use of graphics."

Leslie Unruh's notions fail to recognize highly effective campaigns such as those employed by the The Center for Bio-Ethical Reform and others who deployed a massive graphic sign convoy just prior to Daschle's defeat in 2004

Father Pavonne, a Catholic Priest and major promoter for VoteYesForLife, also encourages the use of graphic signs:

"Political scientist Bill Richardson at the University of South Dakota says Thune won the support of Christian voters, and women concerned with social issues like abortion. Richardson says while many people tired of negative campaigns, in this case it worked. He says people listened and remembered."

"A political era ended in South Dakota with the defeat of U.S. Senate Democratic Leader Tom Daschle. Daschle became the first party leader in more than 50 years to be voted out of office. Republican John Thune beat him by a 51-49 percent margin. "

"They were mourning the end of a 26-year political career which began when Tom Daschle was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives. In 1986, he won the first of three terms to the U.S. Senate."

The Rev. Jerry Falwell issued an Internet plea to his followers, calling on them in September to “counter the propaganda” Planned Parenthood would be promoting. And Cecile Richards, the president of Planned Parenthood, scoffed at Mr. Falwell’s claims about how much money her group would spend, but acknowledged, “This is really on the top of everyone’s mind.”  >>>>

And let us not forget who appropriates the tax-payer funding for planned parenthood affording them to work against all pro-life legislation and pro-life organizations in America.  Who appropriates over $1/4 billion per year to them?  Why, it's none other than the so-called, pro-life, Evangelical Christian, Devout Catholic Congressmen, who year-after-year, over $1.3 billion in the Bush administration so far, more than Clinton, VOTE TO FUND PLANNED PARENTHOOD included in hugh appropriation bills, HR 3010.    Every year the Christian republicans vote for death, fund death, fund condoms in schools, fund anal sex education for teens.

Thanks for posting those links. I never heard of "truth trucks" before. If it's legal and a "choice" we certainly should be able to LOOK at it.

“They need to butt out of women’s lives”

Women need to "choose" to use birth control or keep their pants on. Women have more reproductive responsibility than men. No it's not fair. Nature is like that sometimes. It is unnatural to attempt to level the "playing field" in every way. Either use birth control, remain abstinent (my favorite) or forget using abortion as a way to shirk your responsibilities.

This is really hard! So they are calling these the TRUTH TRUCKS, eh?

We have seen them around Sioux Falls. They get chased around and ticketed by the police! It has been caught on camera by a group of college students here from Ithaca, NY who are doing a documentary on the issue.

What makes it hard for me is that I have lost a child. I had a still-birth at 6 months. Those pictures hurt me. If they hurt me, they certainly are causing an increased pain, shame and guilt to those who are post-abortion! These people are already in pain, and the pictures increase it!! They are struggling to find the Lord, find forgiveness and healing. This makes it worse!!

It isn't just the trucks. When we are in a prayer siege, there are others from other denominations that come with posters of the bloody messes, that stand chest high on me. I have asked them to please reconsider because of the pain it causes me. They have not stopped.

I have been told by those doing it that it is a reality for these people to see before they choose it. I don't think that stops them! The women already have to listen to a recording, all the way thru, before they get their "appointment number". The recording tells them how and what is going to happen, though not detailed graphically. Even that doesn't stop them.

My heart says this method is not the right method.

Some say whatever method it takes.

It truly is a spiritual battle, before it is one that needs the "physical feet" under it. I think that because there are so many praying over the issue, the power is huge. God is a faithful God. However this is playing out in the physical, the spiritual battle is raging! The prayers of thousands are going up, and increasing every day.

This is God's battle. He will win!!

The enemy will look for any inroad he can find.

Currently we are seeing the manifestation fo PRIDE. There are several organizations that are all working for the same cause, the same end....and what is going on under the surface, is the spirit of Pride... Who is going to get the credit? Who is the leader of it? These are things the enemy is using to try to undermine and destroy the efforts.

Praise the Lord, it is His battle!!!
