Live From Comedy Central: It's John F. Kerry!
Real Clear Politics ^ | 3 November 2006 | Kathleen Parker

Posted on 11/03/2006 11:50:38 PM PST by Aussie Dasher

I started a joke, which started the whole world crying, But I didn't see that the joke was on me, oh no.

I started to cry, which started the whole world laughing, Oh, if I'd only seen that the joke was on me. -- The Bee Gees, 1968

WASHINGTON -- Tell me if you've already heard this one:

"You know, education, if you make the most of it, you study hard, you do your homework and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. And if you don't, you get stuck in Iraq.''

That was the hilarious Sen. John F. Kerry speaking to a group of college students a few days ago. It was supposed to be a joke, he says, but he botched it.

What he really meant to say was, wait, wait, this is really funny:

"I can't overstress the importance of a great education. Do you know where you end up if you don't study, if you aren't smart, if you're intellectually lazy?''

No, Mr. Kerry, where, where? Please don't say we end up married to a poor woman.

"You end up getting us stuck in a war in Iraq. Just ask President Bush.'' Ta-dumb-dee-dumb.

The obvious lesson here is that some people should never try to be funny. Otherwise, Kerry seemed to be addressing a group of second-graders. "Do your homework''? "Make an effort to be smart''?

Oh, OK, Dad, you go first.

Oh, I voted yesterday in Boca Raton.

The early polling area had a line fo only two people, but it was a constant flow. Everyone was very nice. Voted straight R, and voted out all of the judges to tried to overturn the 2k election in gore's favor.

The place was full of the elderly, one doesn't need to guess how they were voting. SoFlo seniors tend to tilt left. Except my 70YO mother, who's almost caused heart-attacks at her condo declaring that rats are intolerable criminals who should never be elected.

She tells me she'll get an earful of hatred about President Bush from seniors but has no problem confronting them and leaving them mouth-agape for their idiocy. Guess she's got yer back on that battlefront - lol!

Very good post wherever you put it, and remember Kathleen Parker was a guest panelist on Chris Matthews Sunday Show last week, where mislabeling "opinion" for news is an art form.

By the way, on that show, Kathleen was the only one who didn't coo to Chris what he wanted to hear, a gloom and doom prediction for republicans. She told Chris he was ignoring "broken glass republican voters.

Roughly translated, here's what Kerry really said: "I'm sorry you're so stupid that you didn't get my meaning, but then, you're so stupid."

Most excellent translation!

Here in forgiving America, you make a mistake, you apologize, and the world keeps turning. It's so simple and easy -- unless you're the sort who can't admit error.

Didn't work real well for Trent Lott though.
