Republicans who don't vote
Vanity ^ | 11-4-2006 | Self

Posted on 11/04/2006 8:07:04 AM PST by BMC1

This is for Republicans who have decided not to vote or to vote for a democrat, I have a few things for you to think about.

While a number of us are angry with the Republicans because they have not done many tings we wanted them to do we still need to vote. Yes, we hold the majority, but the democrats and few RHINO’S have continually thrown road blocks in our way.

The consequences of not voting or voting for a democrat are enormous for this country. The next two years will consist of hearings, higher taxes and the loss of the war. This vote is a vote for the survival of this country.

Yes, we have had a few Republicans who have broken the law or acted immorally but we have gotten rid of them and the country is better for it. Democrats on the other hand, hang on to their crooks and immoral people. If democrats regain power, they will pass their immoral agenda into law and we will ALL have to live under those laws which in the long run will destroy this country. Their agenda consists of gay marriage, more liberal judges, keeping abortion on demand, empowering terrorists because of their cut and run attitude, giving terrorists American rights in our courts and they will do nothing to stop the illegal aliens from entering this country. We will be under the thumb of the UN, the most corrupt organization the world next to the democrat party. They want to remove (with to cooperation of the ACLU) God from every aspect of American life because they want no limits on behavior. They believe they know more than God. These are just a few tings they will set out to accomplish. In short, they want us to live under socialism.

The left in this country has brought us political correctness and moral relativism. They have done everything possible to make us loose the war on terrorism. Weather out of fear or stupidity, they think you can negotiate with people whose objectives are to kill us or turn us into Muslims. Instead of being united with those who wish to win this war, they sought to divide us thus empowering themselves and the terrorists.

So, to those Republicans who have decided not vote to keep democrats OUT of power or to vote for a democrat, keep this in mine. When you walk into that voting booth, you will be taking a terrorist in to vote with you. If you are paying attention to the Arab press, they are encouraging Americans to vote democrat. IT’S UP TO YOU.

He [Clinton] says that Iraq was a moderate muslim "democracy" till we attacked...

I went back to your #66 link. Doesn't he know that the statements that he made about Iraq in the 1990's have been broadcast over and over on talk radio, ad inifinitum? What an idiot.

Hold your nose and vote anyway. My Rino is suggesting the same thing.

But, if we hold on to majorities they can whine all they want and it won't make any difference. If we lose, there is a good chance not only will Rummy go, but so will Bush and Cheney because they are after their heads.

You've got to think BIG strategy on this one I'm afraid.

I vote for conservatives. There aren't any conservatives running for office. The so-called Republicans are all RINOs. Therefore, I won't be voting.

So what are you going to do?

Right now?

Probably go have a sandwich and feed the kids lunch. I will then go shower and go out with some old friends.

What are your plans? Having a good weekend?

This is for Republicans who have decided not to vote

-- or just avoid thinking about it, which is the SAME as deciding not to vote.

May I suggest you join me in copying one or both of the following and emailing them to absolutely everyone you can -- and ask them to do the same :

http://freedomkeys.com/2003taxcuts.htm

http://freedomkeys.com/demsondefense-excerpts.htm

They have more to do with the congressional and Senate races than state and local ones, but it WILL help get otherwise unmotivated Republicans to actually get off their butts and GET OUT AND VOTE !!!

Also, be creative: find the email addresses of the officers, staff and members of various clubs and Chambers of Commerce in the towns around you and the areas you're most concerned about.

LOL. Ok! That sounds good.

If you've already voted, or have made up your mind, these threads are not aimed at you.

There are many folks who are concerned that (and this has been said a thousand times) the perfect is the enemy of the good. They are doing what they can to change the momentum.

I used to lurk here, and I understand how this kind of post has a huge influence on folks who are not as politically active and looking for guidance. For someone like you who is active, your decisions are made. Which is completely fine and admirable. But to try and sabotage the lesser of two evils GOP just because (or anyone else who is voting third party/not voting/etc.) you don't want to read the millionth vanity is probably a bit petty. Heck, you know how to get to the Smokey Back Room. ;-)

In any case, have a great weekend, and enjoy the kids and old friends. It actually sounds a lot like what we're doing this afternoon!

>>This is for Republicans who have decided not to vote or to vote for a democrat, I have a few things for you to think about.<<

Talking to people offline I get the impression that the number of Repubican voters who "have decided" not to vote or to vote Dem is very small.

What I do see is some apathy that may lower turnout.

Disclaimer: I'm from Georgia where we have a popular and skilled Republican governor up for reelection so my results may not be typical.

I read your comments and can understand your feelings and and having looked at some of your comments, I respect your intentions. I would agree that pandering by calling for Rumsfeld's retirement or Hassert to resign suggests he would not be a stellar Senator. The real issue is the comparison with Menendez who is a real disaster. I would like to offer several tangible reasons for you to reconsider.

1. The comparison with Chafee and Jeffords is not entirely appropriate. Jeffords did betray his party. Chaffee has said that he did not vote for Bush and there is every reason to believe that if he were the deciding vote, he would jump to the Rats. In fact, Chaffee recently blocked Bolton's vote so if he wins he would take up a Republican seat on a Committee. That is like having a Rat instead of a Republican. The only positive tangible benefit is his willingness to allow votes for the judges and other situations where he would not fillibuster unlike his opponent. On balance, Chaffee's actions have deserved his boot from the Senate. If I had to vote, I would vote for Chaffee. (Rationale for this will be discussed in item 4 below.)Having said that,I would have voted for Laffley in the primary even if I believed that it would mean losing the election to the Rats. That would have been an easy decision.

Kean has said things that are pandering to an electorate in NJ that is not favorable to Republicans. The Iraq war is an albatross, especially in blue states such as NJ so some of this is trying to cope with that reality. (his calling for resignations are just political nonsense, they have no tangilble affect on policy at all as these issues will not even be in his realm of decision) Despite his gaffes, there is no reason to believe that he would betray his party. Despite his comments that might give you pause, the assumption of a betrayal by Kean is not one that can be automatically or even fairly made. The operative qustion is what is the risk/reward? When the alternative is Menendez, there is no downside. we cannot continue to play with our hands tied behind our backs. With the Rats and their allies committing treason on a daily basis (Look at the NYT on any day), we cannot cede to the Rats when our candidate is far from perfect.

2. Comparison with Menendez is reason enough to vote Kean. There probably is no circumstance where having Kean instead of Menendez will hurt. In addition to a number of votes with the party (that even Chaffee has made) he would not likely fillibuster judges or other key issues whereas Menendez would be certainly at the left fringe of votes. Even if Kean would vote against the type of judges we would want, he would not be as destructive as Menendez. Other than the WOT this is the most critical issue of our time.

3. An important message to give in NJ is the protest against the corruption and political hacks. given the conditions, Menendez should win in a breeze. It is only because Menendez is so corrupt that Kean has a chance. In fact, there are those on this sight that feel Kean is ahead and will win. A Kean win will send this message loud and clear.

4. The most important reason to vote Kean is the impact a Senate gain and minimal House losses would have on the media and the party. There are respected Freepers such as LS who believe the election will turn out this way. I believe such an outcome, along with a defeat in 2008,would cause the Rat party to implode.

5. If LS is correct in his assessment, and we have Republican gains, I will personally enjoy seeing the media shellshocked. I recently posted an article on Free Rupublic about the Purple Middle Finger being the metaphor for the election. Take a look at it.

Bottom line, is that there is potentially considerable upside that transcends Kean himself with a Kean victory. There is no reward for his defeat - only risk of the far left and crooked Menendez.

I appreciate your rethinking this.

Whatever you do as a fellow diehard Giants and Mets fan and a fellow Conservative I wish you well.

Thanks for taking the time to consider this.

Honestly, by the time it comes to pull the lever, I'll probably end up voting for Kean anyway. And, a big reason why is the same as why I wasn't going to vote for him--He's not going to win. He's going to lose big.

I've lived in Jersey all my life; when there's a "big change" electorally, you see it coming. It's not coming. Kean's a dud. The right guy could've knocked Menedez out. If the GOP would've maintained control of the Senate anyway (which they will) I'd rather have Menendez to kick around and watch all the crap he's involved with bury him.

Thank you all for the comments.

Kean winning would be far better than the rat.

The key is to keep the senate so ted kennedy can't tie up all the judicial nominees in the commitee.

After jeffords jumped leahy, schumer and kennedy tied up all of bush's judges in commitees.

There are hundreds of circuit and district court judges that would be blocked. Dems would control the floor on a supreme court pick.

When dems had the committee in 2001 and 2002 they even blocked roberts for lower court.

This is why the dems are polling better no dem is staying home while droves of republicans are and will actually put in politicians that will hurt their causes.

The consequences of not voting or voting for a democrat are enormous for this country.

This is a statement worth repeating!! The vilest and craziest democrats are the ones in leadership and they will be setting the agenda, not the conservative democrats that they have set up in your area to make them more palatable.

Don't let you anger cloud out the long term picture. You may be angry with the Republicans for not meeting your expectations, but to paraphrase Donald Rumsfeld, you have to fight with the army you've got, not the one you wish you had. The future is at stake, the future of you children, the future of our great military, our way of life, and our freedoms. Our future generations will ask the question why you sat this one out, so they do not enjoy the same freedoms and quality of life that you have.

Finally for our military who are fighting a tough war, you have to give the kind of political leadership that they deserve. I was recently surfing the channels on my TV and caught part of a movie "A few good men" (Demi Moore and Tom Cruise). One of the lines that caught my attention was to a question Demi's character is asked "Why do you like them so much" (referring to the two soldiers she is defending). She replies "Because they stand on the wall, and promise (and I'm paraphrasing here) that 'during my watch nothing is going to happen to you'." Ladies and Gentlemen we have to give our soldiers the leadership that does not disparage and mock them, and make their sacrifices to nothing.

Folks our choice is clear, the free world is at stake.

The best time to fix a 'broken' Republican is during the tenure, NOT on election day.

Very wise statement.

Spot on. Well said.

Conservatives Will Regret Putting Dems in Power

"Republicans have good reasons to be disappointed in their Congressmen, especially with their runaway spending and amnesty bill for illegal aliens. However, before Republican voters decide to stay home at the next election, or perhaps to vote for the Democrats, they might repeat one phrase to themselves: 'Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi'."

-- Thomas Sowell, Random Thoughts, August 29, 2006

"The only way America will ever be defeated by death-worshipping theocrats who've crawled out from under a Dark Ages rock is with the help of the mullahs' fifth column - academia, the media, the judiciary, public education, Hollywood and the Democratic Party.

Of the two suicide cults America confronts, liberalism is by far the more lethal."

-- Don Feder, In The War On Terror, Liberals Are More Dangerous Than Muslims -- A 9/11 meditation, September 19, 2006
