Joe is going through what battered woman go through - he thinks the party loves him still and he deserves the abuse.

he's now the kid that follows around the cool kids even though they pick on him. He's got one hell of a bloody nose in his future unless he wakes up.

he's on with Hannity saying he'll caucus with the Dems to protect his seniority, but will vote against them when he thinks it's the right thing to do. The 'pubs should offer him his seat on the Homeland Security and Armed Forces committees with seniority if he'll caucus with them. He wouldn't be a problem there as he sees eye to eye with the 'pubs there.

Joe is doing the smart thing....if he appears too much in debt to the GOP, the Defeatocrats will use it against him today and tomorrow.

Lieberman needs to reinvent his thinking. He still suffers from RAT brainwashing.

My question is: IF the country is so against the Iraq war and that is the No. 1 issue at this point, how can Lieberman be reelected in an absolute liberal democrat state, after losing the dem primary and being a war hawk?

Seems to me support for the Iraq war effort is not a losing position. Fact is democrats are trying to win key races this year with allegedly conservative candidates.

I don't understand the empathy for Joe around here...he is a true blue lib, rooting for him just because his opponent has the moonbat imprimatur doesn't make him any less despicable.

That's OK Senator, some of us want you to win just so it tweaks the noses and irks the hell out of the DNC. We'll be back to diparaging you for the many other Lieberal beliefs by end of the week.

Lieberman took a trip to Israel some months ago. When he came back he looked like he was ready to pee his pants. He was absolutely for the war effort. He knows something, and he has to win it this time.

I always thought Lieberman was kind of cute with his char-pei jowls, but then that's just me...I like men with kindly careworn faces :)

Don't be too hard on him, please. The greedy alternative is not an option.

Lieberman has been feeding at the public trough for most of his adult life. Some may try to impute higher motives to his running as an independent after losing his party's nomination, but I attribute it to his desire to stay in the spotlight on the national stage and to continue to collect his federal pay check. It is all about power and ego. There are two Dems running for senator in CT and Lieberman is one of them. If he had any principles, he would have accepted the decision of the Dem voters and moved aside for Lamont.

INGRATE! If it was not for one of the leading GOP people in the country, i.e. Rush, Lieberman would most likely be running a deli in Hartford...

Even if there were a "debt", it would be foolish for Lieberman to admit it. After all, first he needs to get elected in a state in which the GOP is derided. It was idiocy for Republicans to allow the notion of GOP support for Lieberman to become established in the first place-- all that does is drive votes to Lamont.

Besides, Lieberman's only virtue from the GOP's standpoint is his relative clearheadedness on the War on Terror. In all other respects he votes as far-Left as possible, as befits a leading avatar of the "Third Way" socialist movement.

Hey we all disagree with him on most domestic issues, he's a Lib, but as far as the war goes he's with us. he has said he won't forget those that didn't support him.

He's saying the right things to get re-elected in Connecticut - I say good for him and I expect him to vote with his real friends after the election. At this point I'm sure he knows who deserves payback.

Just a guess but I don't think Liberman is going to be received kindly by other Rat senators. Before they take him back he will have to sign something that says "I will not agree with President Bush, not only one time."
