A caller on Rush Limbaugh said today somebody received phone calls at 3:00 A.M. pretending from the GOP!!!
Actually I got called by a good friend who was soliciting votes for the Democrats. We chatted for a while, and I felt virtuous, because I was eating up time he might have used to call someone else, plus we had a nice talk.
Pelosi said, we win or they cheated!
You are indeed correct.
I get at least call a day. Been going on for weeks? They really annoy me, though it is Dems calling me.
I have been receiving DAILY phone calls from Tom Reynold's campaign and friends. They have been REALLY nasty. They have not been telling what he will do if elected or why I should vote for him. Oh no. They have been the slimiest, dirtiest hate bombs about Jack Davis. I feel like I need to have my home disinfected, and particularly my mailbox, which has been inundated with Tom Reynolds hatemail about Jack Davis on a daily basis.
Now, I have no love for Jack Davis, but his one mailing told about what he would do if elected and while it pointed out the failings of his opponent, it was done in an objective, logical way. To his credit, I have not heard Jack Davis stoop to the depths Reynolds has - or if he has, it was not done in my face.
It is the constant intrusiveness and the tone of Reynold's campaign that disgusts me more than anything I have ever seen or experienced in politics. I feel violated in my own home and that has never happened before - at least to this extent. If I am not home when the call comes, I come home to find the hate-filled messages spewing from my answering machine. I would truly LOVE to be able to shut off this flow.
There is no way I will EVER vote for Tom Reynolds. EVER. If he would have just apologized and dropped it, I would have voted for him to keep the Republican seat. The overkill is going to boomerang back on him.
I'm not sure what the polls are showing for this race. Anyone know?
Reynolds in the lead 50-45. Woo hoo! Go Reynolds!
I'm in CA.I've gotten about 12-15 automated and one live call from the GOP. Hell I love it but they're preaching to the choir with me.
"Interesting. I've gotten one phone call from Laura Bush asking me to vote Republican, and about a DOZEN calls from the left pimping their causes."
NOTE TO FREEPERS: THE #1 WAY TO AVOID GETTING CR*P FROM DEMOCRATS IS TO GO VOTE IN A REPUBLICAN PRIMARY. THEN THEY KNOW YOU ARE "ONE OF THEM".
To be honest I hate getting robo-calls. I wouldn't mind seeing them go the way of the dinosaur.
One call from the GOP and a dozen from the libs? Wow, they really are outdoing us in Wisconsin. We've been calling people over and over in Oregon until we get their ballots. I'm surprised you haven't heard more from us party volunteers.
Wow, I dont know what call list you are on, but I've been getting calls from Clint Eastwood (twice), Ben Stein, Ahnold, Bruce MacPherson, Gov. Pete Wilson, George Dukemejian(sp), etc...
Guess it sucks to be you! (pun really not intended!)
>>A personal call is better than an automated call, and a personal call from someone you know is better yet.
I can't imagine that an automated call would change anyone's mind, but then I'm not a political pro.<<
Depends on what you mean by "better"
I have no guilt in hanging up on an automated call and very little for somebody I don't know...
I suspect the first couple of automated calls help get out the vote, not change minds and after that they mainly irritate.
I got two calls from Moveon.org and three from the DNC. And only one from the Republicans
Mumbles Menino, Mayor of Boston, automated on my phone last night as well as 3 LIVE random calls pimping Deval Patrick for governor.
We have a difference of opinion. Not everyone feels the way you do. Probably not even the majority. I kinds like my crappy attitude and will keep it. Thanks for your comments.
Burn your machine and the phone and demand the phone company replace them along with giving you a new number... ;-)
I live in Dane County. Home to 'The Peoples Republik of Madistan, WI?" It's completely blue (except for me and a few others) and Milwaukee and Dane counties are pretty much considered a "loss" for Conservatives in this state.
The libs had it right with the 12 to one margin for calling in this county. Besides, I sign up for all sorts of lib e-mail lists just so I can see what nefarious schemes they're hatching each day. ;)
I haven't missed a vote for the Republican Party since I was 18 years old. Twenty-eight years, already! Eeeek! I've been working for the Mark Green campaign (R, WI) for Governor for months now.
See my post #176 for an explanation about where I live and why the dims would call me a dozen times. Forewarned is forearmed, IMO. You play it your way, I'll play it mine. :)
We get dem calls all the time, throughout the year. We rarely get Republican ones, although we've gotten several as this campaign winds down.
The GOP should be calling you 12 times as well. Their list should be shorter.
You are a more generous and forgiving person than I. I don't have any friends that are Democrats; and that includes the errant relative or two. For the life of me, I cannot seem to find anything worthwhile in someone who persists in following the Democratic party as it has become.
I've had calls from the President and Mrs. Bush, Rudy Guilliani, Jon Kyl and numerous calls from the Len Munsil campaign (he's a friend of ours and I've helped out at the phone banks). Last weekend I couldn't get out to make phone calls, so I copied off a whole bunch of Len Munsil brochures (about 150) and took them to the AZ Cross Country Championships, knowing that many cars would be parked from all over the state there and my son was running (he finished 2nd in 2A state boys and the team finished 2nd also). It was a great day!
Great work! I hope your local elections go well for you. Here where I am is strongly Republican (N. Georgia), about the only way a Democrat can get elected is if he lies and says he's an independant.
While the GOP shouldn't take my vote for granted, they know they had me at, "Hello." ;)
Yesterday we got recorded calls from (1) Bill Clinton; (2) Christine Jennings (D); and (3) some union goon urging us to vote Democrat. Only had one live person call, a Democrat, and I P.O.ed him severely when I cut him off and told him I was voting straight Republican. Overall during the past two weeks I would say we had five times as many Democrat recorded calls as Republican.
I don't know what the democrat whining is about. I just got off the phone with Clinton himself and yesterday, Mr. Rendell rung me up.
These phone calls can be annoying , but what's wrong with just hanging up.
I'm still registered Dem, mainly from inertia, but also cause I thought we have closed primaries... Anyway, I just get Dem calls. Not as many as in years past.
