Take a look at independent voters. There are more of them than before, especially in the West. More than 25 percent of Arizona voters now register as independent or third-party voters. And according to a Washington Post-ABC News poll, they've shifted sharply toward the Democrats in this fall's elections.

Your individual protest was not a distinction with any difference, and therefore it lost any particular value you intended it to have. It will be have the same value, by everyone in Washington D.C., as a vote for Nancy Pelosi; no matter what you wanted it to say. You apparently are unaware that there is a political category known as (small "l") libertarian that has nothing directly to do with membership in a political party. It is a form of political philosophy without affiliation to an elective or political process.
