Okay, here's my vanity for the evening.
Looking past the (D)s after all the names of tonight's winners, where do you think most of them stand ideologically? I'm trying to see some hope in that many of the true worst of the worst did not succeed (e.g. Ned Lamont, the media darling but not-qualified-enough-yet Harold Ford, Jr., that icky Wetterling person who is just plain incompetent to serve, etc.). From my perusal of the winners, most of the newcomers seem to be closer to the semirational DLC wing of the party than from the wacko Pelosi/MoveOn/DU/Kos moonbat wing of the Democratic Party.
If I'm right, we can at least take solace in that 1) we can work with these people to some extent, and at worst expect gridlock, which ain't all that bad in and of itself, and b) the moonbats will quickly become even more insane than ever, once they realize these people are too moderate to give them what they want (a pullout from Iraq, Bush impeachment hearings, etc.).
So what say you?
The country has changed and the future of the Republican party is not good. One needs to look only at the new demographic of the nation.
no such thing as a moderate democrat. they still bow to the same gods: abortion, tax hikes, appeasement and socialism. which committee chairman the 'moderates' put into power is not a stark raving liberal?
Without the House or Senate the Bush Agenda has been stopped. this is a loss not only for the American people but also for the people of Iraq and our men in uniform.
Zarf, if this were forty years ago...I'd agree with you, but this democrat pary cares nothing for the facts, history, or what is good for this country...nor does the media, which supports them.
Conservatism was resoundly defeated tonight and I do not think we can recopver in two years-it will take economic disaster which will evenutally come from Democart policies-I give it 6 years which means at least 4 years of hillary
If the Democrats take the Senate, the radicalization will accelerate.

I hope that people have gotten their indignation with President Bush out of their system. We can now expect 2 years of argument and paralysis.
Regards, Ivan
Thanks in hoc signo vinces.
Time for everyone to give the rest of thier income over to the tax man, turn in your gun, and start learning the five pillars of Islam.

Not so fast you could still rescind your social(ist) (in)security number & cancel your voters registrations & become a sovereign american like our Founding Fathers.

The strings have been pulled, we will just have to wait to see who wins the war. I have little faith in the American public, having the pleasure of traveling our beautiful country on a regular basis, and meeting many of the limp wrist-ed, which are getting rarer, as the illegals now have their jobs. The majority of people I work around, are the "you owe me" crowd. Fifteen years ago I would have never made a statement like this, but things have really changed. Allot of these people I have the pleasure to work around were born in barns, or jerked up, not raised.
We are loosing the cultural war, and the War on Terror.
Well said the other day i saw this guy while working who said we should have a nationalised health care such as Canada & Finland etc. just so he could retire.
Hitler thought the same thing & created Hitler youth where he said in a speech that all young German boys would be built like Krupp steel i liken our young of today as the youth raised in public schools & built like Chinese plastic.

My sentiments exactly.

We're screwed. The Bible says that the poor will always be with us. Apparently so will the stupid.
I'd be willing to bet that Conyers serves impeachment papers against President Bush within 30 days of becoming chairman of the judiciary committee.
