Hotline: Republicans Will Pressure Allen... Soon
Hotline/National Journal ^ | November 8, 2006

Posted on 11/08/2006 4:15:25 PM PST by RWR8189

Top Republicans in Washington will give Sen. George Allen a few days to take stock of his legal and political options before beginning to pressure him to concede to James Webb. Senior Republican officials and White House aides believe that Webb won the race. Several outside advisers to Allen want him to make the decision quickly; others in his campaign want to make sure that there's no chance a cache of new votes will turn up. One question: when will (will?) the AP call the race? [MARC AMBINDER]

The canvass in Virginia is supposed to be finished by the 14th (next Tuesday). The votes will be declared official by the Commonwealth on the fourth Monday of the month (the 27th), and it's after that point that Allen can request a recount.

I would guess that he'd concede if the canvass doesn't turn up any serious irregularities...7400 votes is a pretty big chunk to make up on a recount.

Outsiders interfering in the election in Virginia should be taken out and horsewhipped.

And that's just for starters.

Last thing I appreciate is a bunch of jerks in the White House telling me that I will have to get "constituent services" from a guy who writes cockbooks for a living.

Gad!

Can these people take their pro-pedophilic feelings and just leave.

What possible benefit would it be for the GOP for Allen to concede?

That is the THE biggest difference between dhimmicrats and the GOP. The dhimmicrats will FIGHT for what they believe in (as wrong and misguided and ridiculous it may be), while the GOP caves at the slightest little whimper from the WaPO and NYSlimes.

He should hang tough. There are probably thousands of absentee military ballots remaining that need counting. Concedeing means nothing. Only when the election is certified in a few weeks will it mean anything. Caving into liberals is what cost them control, and now they are doing it again.

Doesn't Virginia law require an automatic re-count if the winning margin is less than 1%? That would seem to be the case here, unless the canvassing is the legally required 'recount'.

Are these the same top Republicans that just delivered the House, Senate and a number of State houses to the Dems?

Yeah, I'm sure Allen is waiting for their advice.

Shut the hell up folks. Allen and his home state can handle this, thank you very much.

Since the Senate is so close, WHY arent we insisting on sharing committee Chairmanships and and equal number of Majority/minority members like the Donks did in 2002?????
Do REPS have no SPINE????????????

Who is going to remember or care if Allen takes another week or two to get a recount or whatever? What wussies republicans are. I guarantee democrats are lying to other republicans telling them things would "go smoother" if Allen concedes. So hey why bother to see if we can keep control of the Senate.

He lost, maybe not fair, maybe square, but it is time to move on and let the Senate organize. As a supporter and contributor, I sent my email to Allen telling him that.

Wonder who at the WH is putting pressure on as I didn't see GW throwing in the towel in FL the next morning!

I am sick and tired of kumbyya. If we had stood up against fraud in 2000, 2002, and 2004 and actually did something about it, we wouldn't still be at this point. Motor voter should have been overturned, and proof of citizenship required to register along with proof of who you are to vote!

Shame on me I don't want illegals voting and affecting our elections but it doesn't seem to bother some of the so-called anonymous voices.
