ROVIDENCE, R.I. - Two days after losing a bid for a second term, Sen. Lincoln Chafee (news, bio, voting record) said he was unsure whether he would remain a Republican.
Chafee lost to Democrat Sheldon Whitehouse in a race seen as a referendum on President Bush and the GOP. On Thursday, he was asked whether he would stick with the Republican Party or become an independent or Democrat.

He's going back to the stables to resume the career he had before becoming a senator: horse-shoeing (farrier). I kid you not! Although familiarity with shovelling manure certainly came in handy in Washington!

Oh NO!!
Your are leaving? What? Why?
Was it something we said?
Something we did?
It's not you.
It's us.
We did not give you the nurturing and respect you
deserved.
Like a kick in the nuts and a punch in the mouth.
Begone scumball!

Could this be a hint at where ol' Lincoln was headed if he had won? Maybe he's just mad because his hour in the spotlight was snatched away from him, and he didn't get to follow Jumpin' Jim.

My error -- when I searched I used two fs. You'd be surprised at the number of articles that did come up under that spelling.

Why did he join the republican party in the first place ?
I'd rather have Democrat, Zell Miller in the GOP than this Bozo.
And while we're at it, why doesn't Olympia Snowe go with him as well. Maybe Arlen Specter might want to follow...so that we can have Pat Toomey as the senatorial candidate instead.

Normally, I'd say, "Don't let the door hit ya...".
But, in his case I hope that the door cracks him in the head on the way out.

Is this from after his first election. This jackass left us a long time ago. Why in the hell was he ever on the GOP ticket. I just don't get it... "There were times walking into my caucus room where it wasn't fun," he said, adding that he stayed with the GOP largely because it helped him bring federal dollars home to Rhode Island. What an idiot.

Frist needs to yank him from his committee seat pronto and will put someone in who put Bolton out for a vote!
This is actually really good news and we may salvage Bolton after all.

Quit talking about it. Lincoln, and leave already! Who cares what party a failed politician like Chafee belongs to anyway? He's not an elected official anymore.

Linc left the GOP a long time ago. Way past time for the party to leave Linc.
