The man arrested on Saturday for sending more than a dozen envelopes containing "fake anthrax" to anti-war celebrities, journalists, and politicians may have ties to the conservative supersite Free Republic, RAW STORY has found.
Chad Castagana, a 39 year old Californian named as the FBI's prime suspect in the case, is due in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles today, where procecutors are expected to file criminal complaint against him for sending threatening letters through the U.S. mail. Castagana has an extensive online history, often writing about science fiction and conservative politics, and many bloggers are convinced that he is also a contributor at the conservative activist Free Republic website under the name Marc Costanzo.
Earlier today, users at the liberal websites Democratic Underground and Daily Kos brought to light the similarities between Castagana's Internet footprint and Costanzo's writings at Free Republic, and RAW STORY has found a series of eyebrow-raising connections between the two men.

I always point owners of other forums to FR as an example of how it should be done.
To these people "connect the dots" may as well be orbital mechanics.
Nothing surprises me anymore. It's nice to think that everyone here is nice and might think the same way you do. The cold, hard reality is that there are nuts here just like there are over at the leftist websites. The difference here is that this place is very well moderated and people for the most part tend to behave themselves.
(Gratuitous misspelling inserted to keep DU happy.)
Marc Costanzo is actually George Costanza's cousin. The california branch of the family dropped the A in hispanic california and added the o.
What did you call me? :)
Just in case the FBI is reading this thread....
I did not know that he had tried marjuana when we did the character interview. And he never asked me if it was ok to put me down as a reference. So I did not lie.
There...it's out. No need to re-visit the issue.
I hope FR never changes. I hate sites where you can't link back, most posts are answered with smilies and the dreaded green slimy thing just bounces into cyberspace. YUK!!
Since I brought it up, I will tell you that it is clean and logical, like a printed page--but with threading provided by hyperlinks for those who want it--brilliant simplicity.
All these boxy knockoffs are cluttered and counter-intuitive.
You're probably blocked, considering how biased they are over there. I had to sign-up several types because the stupid leftist admins kept deleting my account.
Fixed.
LOL!
Seems to have been a glitch.
Until this person's identity is verified I don't think he should be included in the FR article at all, but it seems there is a consensus for limited inclusion now, and that's about as good as you can expect to get over there.
Wow.
Thanks for the black eye Costanzo /sarc

I think the mods at Wiki knew they were just about to make their site a laughing-stock if they let it go on much longer.
I was kind of hoping that the costanzo section would end up to be the major portion of the FR site post, as it was threatening to do.
HAHAHAHAHA! You are kidding, right?
The proof is there if you bother to read it. Freeper Marc Costanzo is in real life Chad Castagana of Woodland Hills. A Chad Castagana of Woodland Hills was arrested for mailing white powder letters to various leftists. Now maybe there's more than one anti-leftist Chad Castagana in Woodland Hills. I seriously doubt it though.
Because there's no nutjobs posting here. Right.
