Free Republic TV?
me | 11/14/06 | Vanity

A few freepers and myself have been loosely tossing around the idea of forming an LLC, investment group, etc., to buy/start a television station that is solely for the conservative viewer.

I believe there is a huge need for an outlet that doesn't pander to the left or refrain from the truth due to concern over hurt feelings, etc.

I, and others, really look forward to hearing the thoughts and ideas from others more knowlegeable as to the best way to go about this.

Buy MSNBC? Contact Sinclair?

That, actually, would be an outstanding idea. Broadcast their insanity ans treachery for all to see.

Why does Hannity and Colmes get better ratings when a rabid leftist is on with Ann Coulter? People want to see the battle.

I have an idea that could act as a stepping-stone to that one, and will require less investment up-front:

FreeTube, the conservative counterpoint to YouTube. It would provide video hosting without having to drink the liberal Kool-Ade.

The website might actually bank content for the eventual launch of the TV station.

No need. We'll buy MSNBC but not fire Olbermann. Keep him in a soundproof room and pump the audio in to him. Place a camera outside and show his reaction in a little square in the bottom corner.

If you guys have the $$ to purchase a network, tu salute'.

I was thinking about this, and it seems to me the great value of Free Republic is the format. The ability to choose which real news story to read, to see the other Freeper comments whether serious or funny, and to comment yourself. If you come up with a way to reproduce that on tv, you will have quite something.

Are any of those low-earth orbiting satellites for sale after Iridium went belly-up? Maybe you could start on Cable access TV and work from there. Comcast is looking for programming for their fledgling TV network Mid-Atlantic Comcast Info. Maybe you could pitch a show to them.

Every single Freeper would need to donate like 100 dollars or something, and even that may not be enough.

This would be very difficult, but it would be a good undertaking.

However, I think the idea of using internet broadcasts or something would be better.

There is software to produce internet video blogs that is simple to use and actually looks professional.

We could add a Freeper forum for video productions or use things like Bittorrent to spread files around.

I would invest in something like this. Murdoch has lost his vision, and Fox is drifting (RAPIDLY) left. We could clean up.

Just buy one of the off channels like spike or the shopping channel. I'm in for a couple of bucks and labor if possible.

Indeed, it would take substantial $$$. But, with the right backing........... It would definitely fly....... Count me in for discussion.

oh yeahhhh. now we're talking! I am SO sick and tired of our views and our words being buried as inappropriate or not main stream or of no interest, etc etc. There are a ton of us out here that desparately need a true conservative voice.

Maybe we should contact Kim Hume to be the news director :)

She left Fox.

If you can round up the cash, I think it's the best and possibly only solution since Fox's lurch to the middle.
