Conservative Christian organizations in the United States are contacting supporters to urge a boycott of Wal-Mart Stores Inc. after U.S. Thanksgiving weekend, because the company is paying a commission to a small gay organization for sending buyers its way.
Each purchase made by clicking through the gay group's website to Wal-Mart's retail site generates a payment worth 5 per cent of the sale.
Donald Wildmon, chair of the American Family Association, said Friday his group has sent emails to 3 million supporters urging a boycott because the deal suggests Wal-Mart executives believe "the homosexual agenda is worthy of their support."
. . .
. . . since August, conservative groups have been hammering Wal-Mart for agreeing to enter into a partnership with the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce. The company said it forges business partnerships with many minority organizations to help it attract a diverse array of suppliers.

This kind of attack really ticks me off.
First, as a now retired senior citizen, I buy everything I get from a nearby Super WalMart. My food, clothes, everything. I save more money there than I could anywhere else.
That Walmart pays more taxes to my city than anyone else. They give to my local Boy Scouts. The cashiers tell me they will be saying 'Merry Christmas again this year.
Now, you come along and tell me that guy Wildmon wants me to boycott them? Wildmon has never in his life done one thing to help me or anyone I ever met. His whole life is spent attacking other human beings. His hatred of 'the other' knows no bounds. When he dies, he will face his maker, and I don't think he will get the award he expects.
What I have to say boils down to this. As a Christian, I don't try to tell other people to follow me. I expect them to watch their own souls , and GET OFF OTHER PEOPLE'S BACKS!
Mr. Wildmon reaps his own rewards in life. In my own little way, I will mind my own soul and continue to shop at WalMart.
Sorry for the rant guys.
I pay taxes and some of those taxes go for things that I consider sinful. Taxpayer funded abortions come to mind. How do you deal with that?
It's a serious question.
Okay Gabz. I need to know two things:
1. Is Wal-Mart using the same press gangs that they use to force people to work for low wages, to force people to be gay?
and...
2. Why is Wal-Mart discriminating against lesbians?
Outrageous!
Don't get mad. Go shopping. The rest of us owe nothing to Wal-Mart.
If we do not pay our taxes we go to jail or at least end up having to pay MORE taxes. The only option is death. Wal-Mart is a choice. So you do what you can. As for taxes, that's one of the big reasons I care about politics. It's my money being spent.
Talk about a piddling issue. We should thank Wal-Mart for announcing a "Christmas"-friendly policy. I doubt we will see similar announcements from other major chains. When somebody does something right, we should thank them -- not chew them out over something much less important, like a "gay" link. Let's not have a circular firing squad, people.
ROFL!!!!!!!!!!!
Who the heck objects to gay people shopping at Wal-Mart, for crying out loud?
Besides, Wal-Mart is coming out of the closet on Christmas (Heh!), no doubt because they believe they'll get more business that way, and that they saw the furor that Target caused with their bellringer ban. I was in Sears last weekend and it looks as if they're acknowledging the reason for the Season, too.
The Christmas thing is reason enough for me to favor Wal-Mart over Target...but daggonit, while Wal-Mart beats Target hands down on the humdrum everyday items on price and variety, Target's fancier stuff (sheets, furniture, picture frames, dishes, clothes, etc.) is better than Wal-Mart's fancier stuff.
Wal-Mart is actually going to let their employees utter, "Merry Christmas" this year, and is hated by the nutball left. The latter alone would be enough for me.
You go, girl! (or guy, as the case may be)
So deck yourself out from head to toe in Wal-Mart wear. No one is stopping you. But the rest of us owe them nothing. It is not their RIGHT to receive our business.

Just curious: are you worried about the sheer numbers of the crowd or their large physical size? Both are a concern!
My company drops a charitable contribution form on my desk every quarter. Attached to it is a booklet full of Leftist organizations, the exception being the Salvation Army. They want to know how much I'd like automatically deducted from each paycheck. They don't seem to realize that 1/3 of my paycheck already goes to charity .....
Wal-Mart puts 'Christmas' back into big sales season
'Happy holidays' made many unmerry
By RYAN UNDERWOOD

Christmas is coming early to Wal-Mart this year in more ways than one.
Beyond the continued push to start the holiday shopping season just as Halloween displays are being taken down, Wal-Mart is rolling out a marketing campaign that more fully embraces the religious themes of Christmas.
"This year, more than ever, Christmas will dominate our programming," Wal-Mart spokeswoman Marisa Bluestone said.
I'm in agreement with Ghosty. I won't always know where people I do business with stand on every issue. But, when I do, I don't have do business with them unless I don't mind compromising myself or my integrity.
And I had one boss when very young who 'demanded' United Way participation. When they showed me their pie chart, with some 80% going to administration, I quit giving to them altogether.
But, to think one group's boycott will be felt by a giant like Wal-Mart is ludicrous, IMHO.
Do you have a reference for this?
From the actual NGLCC website:
Founding Partners: IBM, WellsFargo, JPMorganChase, Motorola, Travelport, Intel, Wyndham, American Airlines, Lehman Brothers, American Express, Total Merrill, Ernst & Young
Corporate Visionaries: Cisco Systems, Avis, Millenium Hotels, Intuit, Replacements Ltd., RSVP, WalMart, Sam's Club, La Crema
National Platinum Media Sponsors: The Advocate, Out, The OutTraveler
Corporate Friends and Organizational Allies: Estee Lauder, Human Rights Campaign, Kimpton, IGLTA, Wingate Inn, AmeriHost Inn, Kodak, Orbitz
I don't see Ford, GM, or Chrysler anywhere on the list. They may be members, but that's a far step from a "Corporate Visionary"
"Unfortunately, if you're trying to avoid Chinese products, you have very few shopping options."
I'm just here as back-up, so don't take this as a criticism, but EVERYTHING, and I mean EVERY D@MN THING I buy at Wal-Mart on a semi-weekly basis is Made in America. :)
THAT is the biggest myth the left has pimped over the years. Yes, large ticket items are usually MIC, but the everyday stuff, items which Wal-Mart sells gazillions of each DAY are made right here in America.
Wal-Mart has 61,000 American manufacturers/suppliers.
My typical shopping list for Wal-Mart is:
Toilet Paper
Cat Litter
Dog food
Cat Food
Wild bird food
Bottled, flavored waters (I can't stand soda-pop)
Health & beauty supplies (such as mouthwash, shampoo, toothpaste and tampons)
I'm also in the ranks of anti-consumer and have knocked off many, many things I just "couldn't live without" from my shopping list over the years. :)
From the list above, I COULD make my own pet foods, and I COULD live without bottled water and I COULD use baking soda instead of toothpaste, and maybe I will as time goes on. :)
Just don't ask me to give up the occasional convenience of a tampon or my toilet paper, LOL!
I'll call AFA "lunatic", and I won't feel the least bit bad about, nor am I in any way associated with that other lobby...
I know most of what they sell isn't made in China, but some people on these threads don't want to know the facts. Which is why I usually try the, "Where do you shop to avoid Chinese stuff?" question. Sometimes they get the point, but more often they don't because they're just here to bash.
I also do my weekly grocery shopping at WalMart and none of it is made in China. Tide is Tide and Crest is Crest, so why not pay the cheapest price? To me, it just makes economic sense to get the basics for as little as possible, so I have more money for the fun stuff.
