UNITED NATIONS (Reuters) - Iran, whose president has vowed to wipe Israel off the map, complained to the United Nations on Wednesday that the Jewish state was repeatedly threatening to bomb it.
The threats were "matters of extreme gravity" and the U.N. Security Council should condemn them and demand that Israel "cease and desist immediately from the threat of the use of force against members of the United Nations," Iranian U.N. Ambassador Javad Zarif said.
His comments came in a letter to U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan dated November 10 and circulated at the United Nations on Wednesday.
Iran, the world's fourth-largest oil exporter, has been aggressively pursuing a nuclear program that it says is meant only to produce electric power.

No "kissing" matter!
Ex-minister of Justice, Haim Ramon (Kadima) had his day today in
court. To those who do not know, Ramon quit his position when a
female soldier accused him of giving her a french kiss against her
wishes.
It turns out that there are two sides to this story, and while we
would not write about the story itself, Ramon's testimony did have an
important and serious side to it.
The "kiss" was given on the day that two IDF reserve soldiers were
abducted by the Hizbollah and minutes before the government meeting
in which was decided to take military action in Lebanon.
In Ramon's testimony (as reported on Israel Radio today), he said
that he was about to enter the (fateful) government meeting and "the
mood was jovial" ...
As we know, The IDF COS Dan Halutz was around this time on the phone
giving his stock broker the order to sell all of his portfolio.
As we know, this attitude of "joviality" and "business as usual",
quickly turned into major failure of government/military in the most
important job they have: ensuring the safety of Israeli lives.
Many people in Israel have already caught on that something is
"rotten in Israel", but these people can turn left just as easily
that they can turn right.
GAMlA, as the head of the umbrella organization of right wing groups
in Israel, is working around the clock to convince people that the
left is even more dangerous to Israel than this "Kadima/Labor" joke.
We are actively pressing for the fall of this government, but even
more, we are trying in all legal ways to influence that the next
government will take things seriously.
This is no "kissing" matter!

Israel Develops Laser to Destroy Roadside Bombs
The Israeli Armaments Development Authority (Rafael) has developed a
laser system to diffuse destroy roadside bombs, which have killed
hundreds of US and Israeli soldiers in Iraq and Lebanon.
Rafael and American defense contractor General Dynamics have produced
and deployed the system, which is called Thor. It uses the
concentrated energy of a high-powered laser to clear unexploded bombs
and improvised explosive devices.
"The directed energy from the laser may also be used to ignite
combustible materials, as a standoff cutting torch, and for other
combat purposes," General Dynamics said in a statement about the
project ahead of US moves to purchase and deploy the system in its
army.
Thor combines the Israeli-produced high-energy laser with the
Browning M2 12.7-mm machine gun, made by General Dynamics, to destroy
explosive devices. The weapon is used with a remote operator control
station or mounted on a vehicle or bomb-squad robot.
The Thor system includes sensors that work either in day or nighttime
conditions to detect the hidden explosive charge. The developers
report that the Thor system has already been deployed in combat
operations. "Thor has demonstrated combat effectiveness in
operational engagements bringing an additional precision fire gun
platform to the fight, while at the same time filling a unique
tactical mission role," Rafael announced.
The developers explain that the directed energy from the laser is
capable of rapidly clearing unexploded devices by inducing a
low-order burning or deflagration reaction in the explosive material
from a safe distance.
"The directed energy from the laser may also be used to ignite
combustible materials, as a standoff cutting torch, and for other
combat purposes," the developer explains. "The kinetic energy from
the 12.7mm bullet fired by the M2 functions as a standoff disrupter,
destroying fusing, thick-cased munitions and booby traps, also
enabling distancing explosive hazards away from the force route. The
M2 machine gun ultimately provides accurate, direct fire upon enemy
forces and targets in either an offensive or defensive role."
The Armament Development Authority is supported by Israel's Ministry
of Defense and designs, develops, manufactures and supplies a wide
range of advanced defense systems.

HEARD SAID
Internal Security Minister Avi Dichter
"The political echelons' instructions to the IDF should have been and
still must be an absolute halt to Kassam fire from the Gaza Strip at
Israel. Unfortunately, there is currently no such instruction. The
steps taken up to now have not been successful in putting a stop to
Kassam fire.
The army's activity is not sufficient. A broadening [of operations]
is necessary, whether it's a ground operation or an aerial operation
or other special operations. Defense forces exist to protect
citizens, even at the expense of harm to the defense forces.
The reality we live in today is unthinkable, intolerable."

The development of the laser device to diffuse roadside bombs is welcome news. Hopefully, it will save lives - American and Israeli.
But there are still technologic problems for the Israeli military that need solving so that the casualties of combat against the Hezzies can be further reduced. Seems like there were unexpected problems with the chassis of the Israeli tanks which were too vulnerable to upgraded Hezzie artillery.
Also, Israel must perfect an anti-missile missile system to protect the northern civilian population from incoming short-range Hezzie rockets. This may be coming soon.

Ok...Nov 30th. All nuclear research, all support of terrorists...and verifiable to our satisfaction. Otherwise, their nuclear research, their military, their C&C (including him), and their critical infrastructure to support those things is destroyed.

This is too funny for words. Iran is invoking UN protection after violating the UN Charter's provisions against threatening the independence and sovereignty of a member state.

The technical problems can be resolved very simply, Example; "As from today the Israeli military has instructions to lay waste to an area of 5 square km. from the source of any missile that is fired into Israeli territory." Technical problem solved.
