Government Land Map???
12-6-2006 | Susannah

I've been looking for a map of the USA that indicates where the government-controlled land is. The one I recall seeing here years ago and can't find now had sections in colors of yellow, green, red etc. indicating what part of the goverment controlled the land.

I had saved a link to one of the maps like that, but the link is no longer any good. http://www.nwi.org/Maps/GovernmentLand.gif

If anyone saved the map, I would appreciate a working link or repost of the map.

Here's another map with alaska included.

White space on the map is private land.

Actually, the government controls all the land in the U.S.A. If you don't believe me, stop paying your property taxes and plant some marijuana in your back yard and see what happens.

Or complain that Mexicans or other illegals are streaming across your land, stealing, threatening you with a weapon and attempt to stop and detain them for the U.S. government agents.

Saw one, recently, that had Alaska same scale as the Lower 48. See, Alaska is all colors, and the area is the same as all the colored land in the Lower 48.

LESS than 3% of Alaska is in 'private' hands - the State, FedGov, Military, Natives, etc control the rest.

Come up this summer and go fishing, I think they will still let you have one or two under 'sport' fishing rules. Native subsistence? about 600 per family.

Commercial - well, that depends if you inherited your daddy's permit.....

I'm pretty sure that land is collateralizing that note already.

But can you imagine what would happen if the US ever defaulted? All of those locked up minerals would be strip mined in the most expedient manner for the benefit of the best connected note holders. Same with the oil under that pristine arctic plain.

The District of Columbia has only 26.3% of its land owned by the federal government although it was established as the federal city.

The District needs to be reduced in size with the outlying areas and populations returned to the appropriate states!

There was a moose in the yard this morning. They have been real scarce this year. Probably a reason for that. Stupid dog had to bark at it and make it run off and I worry it will slip on the road and break a leg or something.

4 of them live in the park across the street - they are like cockroaches - will eat everything in the neighbors yard before the 1st. One of them killed all the trees in my backyard 2 years ago, ate the bark off of them. Kept coming back like I was running a soup (well, ok, bark) kitchen.

But, thank goodness, they don't like cheese.

Yes, they are bad gardeners. My alder hedge is highly irregular because of them. And my willow trees look like they got shelled by the Prussians.

ROTFLMAO! Prussins you say!

My trees were completely stripped of bark from ground level to about 8 ft up. Shelled by Prussians would have been better.....

The neighbor lost al of his front yard plantings. Maybe next year he will plant something less tasty....
