Do you have any idea what WWII was like? We destroyed many thousands of civilians in firebombings in Germany and Japan with no thought that we were attacking military targets. Our troops slaughtered surrendered prisoners on orders from commanders. War is HELL. They that begin it have put themselves there and that is where we must fight it if we are not to let Hell subsume us.

Optimism says "Even if the whole of Congress cut and run and removed all funding for the war, we'll still kick enough @$$ that all the Iraqis ahve to do is sweep up the remnants and the Middle EAst will become peaceful with flowers and puppies and puppy/flowers..."
That's optimistic. I'm not. I adopt a wait and see attitude. And if things continue as they are, we're dead.

Then what- would you convert them all to Communism? They must be converted to something because evn on a totally beaten population Islam cannot be merely ignored and IT CANNOT BE CHANGED and Christianity is what we have the most experience with, though I am sure we can find enough teachers right here in the US to effect a conversion to Communism.
You can, indeed, force a religion.The mohos have been doing it for 1700 years very successfully. The point here is not to make Christians of them but to flush out Islam. You cannot impart the necessary values without the ground from which those values spring. Again, the real choice is conversion or genocide or just ameliorating the Jihad a little,perhaps putting it off for our grandchildren and greater technological opportunities for destroying the infidel. Tbe Bush solution is to trim at the edges and put it off for at least the next administration.
But that demon is not constitutionally set on destruction of US. And that demon only persists through the first couple of generations.
God HAS a plan to shrink Islam and it's not as described in post 15.
His plan, already at work, is to send Christian missionaries to every Islamic country who move in the power and anointing of the Holy Spirit to show people the way to God through salvation in Christ, who pray for the sick, deliver the demon possessed, raise the dead, and train new converts to Christianity to carry on preaching the gospel, healing the sick, delivering those possessed by demons, and raise the dead, after the missionaries depart.
That would be.... American DENIAL that is a socialist country.. NOW.. and that it LOST the cold war and that the Communist Manifesto is now operating FULLY point by point..
THAT is the weakness that will cause America to devolve into a propaganda pit like Europe Oh! and Canada.. Democracy is the social disease that causes socialism.. and most worship the holy word democracy.. as a delusion..
Show me where that has been successful, where there is a net increase in the proportion of Christians in any Mohammedan population. There are a few individual families here and there. There are many more converts to Islam in Europe and in America and especially in Mexico.
However, to claim they need to be forced to convert to Christianity at the end of a sword opposes Christian principles at their core.
I believe democracy has Judeo Christian ethics at its root. If we continue to encourage democracy in Islamic nations, it is the best avenue we have to eventually bring them into the civilized, Judeo Christian world.
(And we need to kill the Islamofascist terrorists en masse as we do that).
Christianity is not a system of government used to control people. It is God's working on earth through His Son, Jesus, and through the Holy Spirit, to bring others unto Himself.
The freeing and democratization of Islamic countries, I believe, is being used to open those countries to the Gospel.
I know that there is a temporary fleeing from Iraq of Christians because of the violence, but that will end, and the seeds of the Good News of Jesus Christ will flourish.
Encouraging Democracy among Moslems is pretty close to absurd. Look at what Ataturk acomplished. There is democracy in Turkey but Islam itself is such a retardant on economic development that Democracy is always on life-support. Moslems who vote, vote for Islamics. It is the only vote consistent with their religion, no matter how they feel personally about democracy.
Christianity is the substance that we use to replace the Islam which we must remove from their heads. Christianity makes a functioning republic possible. If converting them to Christianity is such a horrible thing then convert them to that other great faith of the modern world, Communism. To end the Islamic threat it is necessary to replace Islam. Christianity and Communism are the systems that we are experienced with and can actually implement. Their heads will not remain empty. Islam will return if we merely try to leave them void, to make up their own minds. Conversion of the Germans was easy after WWII. They already had a Christian background.Japan was easy. Shinto is not a Universal religion. It is a "tribal" paganism and it was only necessary to defeat its gods in the person of the Emperor. Islam is a Universal religion and encompasses the possibility of temporary defeat and regeneration but the immutable paramount goal is the conquest, conversion or destruction of everyone else.
Unfortunately, it doesn't take many of these bastards, who have corrupted their own religion, to create the situation we are now being forced to deal with.

You continue to miss the point. No one can 'convert' anyone else to Christianity. Only the working of God within a person's heart can do that. Your substitution of communism seems to indicate that you still don't 'get it.' Or are trying to act as though you don't.
The heart of a Muslim is no worse than the heart of a person born in a so-called 'Christian' country. We are all equally sinful.
It is a fundamental truth of Scripture that we are ALL created in the image of God. Islam is an external factor that seemingly makes things more difficult, but we are talking about the working of an Almighty God, arthurus, for Whom nothing is impossible.
