MANCHESTER, N.H. With standing room crowds chanting for the star to show, Sunday's Democratic fundraiser could have been a rock concert. But it was only Sen. Barack Obama's first visit to the nation's first primary state.
If Senator Obama should jump into the Democratic presidential primary, where he is now ranked just behind Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York in recent polls, Democrats in the land of retail politics wonder if there's a living room big enough to hold the throngs who'd come to hear him.
"Right now, he's a rock star. Getting 1,500 people out on a Sunday afternoon ... says something different is going on here," says Jim Craig, former Democratic leader in the New Hampshire House.
So what's driving Obama-mania?
It isn't a single set of issues such as the war or the economy. Rather, the attraction seems to be a mix of Obama's own compelling personal narrative and many voters' desire for a less caustic brand of politics.
"It's the sense that you're in the presence of someone who is touched with the gift of grace," says Ross Baker, a political scientist at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, N.J. Obama, Illinois' junior senator, exemplifies the hope that there's some way to triumph over the intense polarization of American politics, he adds.
A barely known state lawmaker and community organizer in Chicago, Obama shot to superstar status after an electrifying speech at the 2004 Democratic national convention in Boston. With a father from Kenya and a mother from Kansas, he embodies two racial cultures deeply at odds in American history.

The problem is, in America today - that is a formidable majority.

Everytime I think of him I can't understand
Why they let their praise of him go so out of hand
They couldnt have managed better than if they had it planned
Why'd they choose such an unknown man from Lincolnland?

The media is suffering from loss of revenue from people who want reliability get their news elsewhere. Anything to buffer sales, even an untried and unproven newcomer.
I wonder what Mr. Keyes is doing these days.
I'm sorry, I had to revise this. I need two lines before the "donchus".

So let's see if any Democrats refer to Hussein Obama as an Oreo like they do to the Republican blacks.
I heard a rumor that his dad left them to return to kenya and jihad the non muslims, I would like to check that out and see if it is just a rave.
Why are his lips so purple? Is he lacking oxygen?
democratic reverse racism... and socialism
(He's the only black man that uses proper English on TV.
That is so, but the problem is how he is going to get across to the African American voting block.)
I'm really really trying to explore the conservative side of things, but I keep seeing racist posts like these...
Yet another example of Freerepublic casual racism.
Answer: The media.
(99.5% of black vote?
He will need a felony conviction on his resume to pull that off.)
I'm going to start a list of all the racist comments on these forums. Good lord people, you wonder why black people don't vote repulican with guys like you talkin gthis kind of nonsense.
It also implies that Obama is an arch liberal, which was my point in the first place. He couldn't be more akin to socialism if he tried.
The word for this guy is Tabula Rasa. The libs are projecting onto him their hopes for a liberal renaissance despite the fact that modern day liberalism is a grotesque tumor. They figure his pretty boy mask will conceal the real Dorian Gray face underneath.
Don't make the mistake of thinking there is no substance to this guy or that he is an emty suit. The substance is that of the Fabian Socialist, and the suit is sewn from Marxist cloth.
This guy knows how to package cultural Marxism in an appealing package: watch all his speeches that decry an over reliance on govt, "BUT OTOH we can't allow people to fall thru the cracks," and other jive platitudes delivered in a mellifluous tone. He has the veneer to beguile a whole lot of voting dummies who don't pay attention.
I am anything but one. I have many well spoken and reasonable minded African-American friends. But when you consider that many blacks make a deliberate attempt to speak "Ebonics" which is basically an euphemism for poor grammar, pronunciation and accent, and to teach Ebonics to succeeding generations just to set themselves apart from mainstream whites, you may understand where the real racism is. They don't just speak differently (ie poorly), they dress differently (pants down to their ankles), adopt different names (female names with "sha" suffixes, and males with Muslim names), listen to different music (if you can call it that),convert to Islam (prisons being the number 1 recruitment centers), but they are actively encouraged to do so by the liberal media -- and to them it is nothing more than a manifestation of passive aggression toward conservative whites. And I don't blame them so much as I do Hollywood and the liberal media to encourage the growth of this decadent subculture. Me, a racist? Hardly. I hold people like Ken Blackwell, Mike Steele, Condy Rice, Thomas Sowell , Bill Cosby, and not to forget Bo Snerdly, Rush's Right Hand Man, in the highest regard.
