Full-Size Christmas Trees to Return to Seattle Airport [all trees going back up!]

SEATAC, Wash. — The Christmas trees are going back up at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.

Port of Seattle officials had ordered the trees taken down over the weekend after a local rabbi threatened a lawsuit if a menorah wasn't also displayed at the airport.

Airport officials say they took that action out of concern that if they allowed the addition of a menorah, they would also have to display symbols of other religions and cultures, which was not something airport workers had time for during the busiest travel season of the year.

Rabbi Elazar Bogomilsky says he never asked that the trees be taken down, and the threat of a lawsuit was withdrawn.

With the threat of the lawsuit gone, airport spokesman Bob Parker says all 14 trees will go back up -- hopefully by tomorrow morning.

but who has time to get into that issue right now when the holiday season is in full swing?...That's a point that bothers me .

Combined with the fact that theses are Holiday, not Christmas Trees, it puts Sea-Tac's actions in context.

Our idiot Drive-by-Media did not help during this news cycle either. Mark Twain was right when he said: "A lie can travel halfway around the world while the truth is putting on its shoes." I for one am grateful for the work of the Lubavitchers.

Can and has.

He knew perfectly well.
The group he is part of, the Lubavitchers, goes around suing different places to put up menorahs every year, and they usually win.
I doubt he paid for that lawyer himself.

that's very interesting

Get ready for the freaking MOOSLIMS to start making demands for prayer rooms and red crescents all over the airport!

They already have in at least one airport, since the all faiths type chapel was not good enough for them.

Both communist cities!

It's a tough job, they go where they are most needed. What would you say about Christian missionaries who work in mostly communist places?

They've sued here in Florida. And in New York.

Good, but it proves that SeaTac is run by a group of invertebrates!

Sued or were sued by the ACLU?

I fell for it. If you only watched O'Reilly, you would have never known about the lawsuit threat--didn't mention it at all. I had no idea until the freepers corrected me.

"Oww ! ... That's gonna leave a mark"

It won't hurt those who are unforgiving.

Yule

Close but no cigar.

They BURN tress on Yule, not decorate them.

I don't have a problem with the display of a Menorah with the Christmas tree because the Menorah is part of our Old Testament tradition as Christians.

Sadly, the good Rabbi ignored the tenants of the Old Testament against threatening lawsuits to accomplish his goal. Hopefully, he learned a lesson. And as Christians, we must all remember our Jewish bretheren who also worship the God of Abraham. Merry Christmas and Happy Channakha to all!!!

This'll last until someone threatens for a Kwanza thingee or Muslim sword or something... This isn't a good thing, only a delay of the inevitable. We have become a country of cowards, afraid to stand up for what we know is right.

I saw him on Fox and he said that all he wanted was a menorrah - did not request that the trees be removed.

The guy wanted to put up a Menorah, and he thought he should be allowed to do so. It had nothing to do with the trees, it was just what he thought was his right to celebrate HIS religion.

We are way to wound up on this "separation" of state and reality. Real people are proud of their religious heritage, and want to celebrate it. But too often government won't allow it, even while they subsidise and actively pursue the celebration of other cultural and ethnic heritage.

But religion is probably more a part of people's being than there cultural or ethnic background.
