This is news? Where have these scientists been since 1992? Sasquatch lived in the White House for eight years and has been leeching off the citizens of New York for the last six years, pretending to be a junior Senator.

When I was a kid I believed in everything. Bigfoot, The Loch Ness Monster, Ancient Astronauts, the Bermuda Triangle and every piece of BS that came out of Uri Geller's mouth.
I wish bigfoot were real. I would be really cool.
Oh well...I still believe in Santa Claus.

Skeptics say it's preposterous that a large mammal could have evaded detection in North America throughout history, and note that despite all the alleged sightings, a sasquatch carcass has never been found.
Not only that, but, that with so many sightings and in an age where video cameras and digital picture cameras and regular cameras are so prevalent, it's a wonder that we don't have hundreds of pictures and videos. Bigfoot and sasquatch only seem to appear when they "know" that the people catching a glimpse of them are not equipped with cameras. Go figure.

They found a tuft of brown hair
Then wouldn't a quick DNA test settle the identity of the "creature" pretty definitively?

Interesting question. I believe that the answer could well be that the DNA of a close relative to a human is highly likely to be nearly indistinguishable from human. However, I'm no specialist in this field... I hope someone with more knowledge answers you.

Not if it doesn't match any known critter. To the best of my knowledge, several of these tufts have been recovered which have come back with the results "unknown."

I'll bet none of those new species were as easy to spot as a "giant, hairy, stinky, mammal, walking upright", creature which has been spotted many times for many years. With so many sightings, we should have a lot of real evidence for Bigfoot. That Borneo thing has a lot of evidence.

That is true, but if we are dealing with something that is even mildly 'intelligent' then hiding from people might not be out of the question.
But,you are right in the sense that, by now, we should have had some kind of definitive proof of it's existence.
Maybe that 'tuft' of hair might prove useful.
