Looking forward to a northern Connecticut meeting!

There is a great place in West Hartford, Macaroni Grill, J.Timothy's in Plainville, Chowder Pot in the Hartford area, the EXPENSIVE Ruth's Chris in Whethersfield....

KosmicKitty - Thanks for the post. Its great seeing FReepers getting together to have fun instead of battling moonbats. But then again, most times the moonbats are so dumb, we make fun of them.

Race - Group group pic. Taken in a mirror so everyone gets in??? :-))

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to the Connecticut crowd, and to all FReepers.

How cool! I love seeing faces with names (it makes it awesome writing posts to folks that you have a face with) and love that everyone had a good time! Thank you so much for sharing this with us.

You all are very courageous people to still live in CC, Commie CT, I moved out 10 years ago after born and living there most of my life. Great food places I remember: Lenny & Joe's OldSaybrook. Giant Grinder, S. end of HFD, Steamed cheeseburgers in Meriden named Charlie's ? and Avon Old Farms.

Was it Ted's in Meriden for the steamed cheeseburgers

And Avon Old Farms Inn is still great. Went to a wedding reception there 3 years ago.

It can't be called a get together as my ex wife wasn't there. She defined it as if I was at something, it was a party. If she was there it was a get together.

Yea, Ted's. Still there? Avon Old Farms a great place. In the early 50's myself and parents went there, while dining a TT rolled over a car coming down Avon mountain, no fatalities. This was similar to what happen this year.

Of course, we could go to J. Gilbert's in Glastonbury for the best steak ever! (However, being so close to Christmas, I don't think many would be able to afford it, myself included.)

Connecticut ping!

Thanks for this thread, KosmicKitty. Looks like a good time was had by all. Sorry zelig (aka "Mr. Nutmeg") and I couldn't make it. We were much too busy with Christmas preparations, work, etc. Hopefully we will make the Hartford-area gathering, which I hope will be planned for sometime after January 5th. We will be out of town before that...

Please Freepmail me if you want on or off my infrequent Connecticut ping list.

I've been to the Chowder Pot in Hartford, although admittedly not recently. I would say it's "so-so"... not the best choice, IMO. How was the Chowder Pot in Branford?

First time I ever ate there

portions were huge, but price was up there a little

better deals on meals in NYC, for sure, but food was good

Good to know... glad you had a good time! :o)

I actually haven't been to the Hartford Chowder Pot in about two years. I just remember the food was kind of greasy, and "so-so". Can't remember how the prices were. I don't know if both Chowder Pots are from the same chain or are independent restaurants...
