Holocaust denier David Irving on Friday said Jews should ask themselves why they have been hated throughout history.
"They [Jews] should ask themselves the question, 'Why have they been so hated for 3000 years that there has been pogrom after pogrom in country after country?', said Irving, speaking at a press conference he convened in England on Friday, a day after he was released from an Austrian prison.
Irving, who was sentenced to three years in prison for denying the Holocaust, was released last week after his appeal was granted.
Asked if he sees himself as anti-Semitic, Irving said, "No, I like to think I am not."
But immediately following his answer, Irving expressed his support for Mel Gibson's comments that "The Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world."
Irving also took pride in the success of his books and claimed that he the fortune he made from sales of his biography on World War II German General Erwin Rommel enabled him to walk into a car showroom with a paper bag stuffed with cash to buy a "Nigger brown Rolls-Royce."
Irving's comments aroused great anger within Britain's Jewish community.
Lord Janner, president of the Holocaust Educational Trust, said Irving's release was "unwarranted" and that Irving's "latest comments were totally to be expected and should be totally ignored."

A persuasive argument can be made that Jews haven't been treated worse than other minorities radically different from host majorities. The Jews just miraculously live to tell about it.
Civilizations and cultures come and go, displaced by others, usually for some type of material gain. In recent times, we edge close to the disappearance of Kurds, Basques, Assyrians, Ainu and American Indians. The destroyers of Jewish culture just haven't been as successful.

I think you'll find other religious persuasions that also call themselves something similar. Every religous group thinks that they alone are chosen by God.
Therefore the Jews became more than wise with this lifestyle, since they were run from countries, cities over many years they became very efficient with ways to earn income.
One excellent way to become successful is to develop a lifestyle that can be easily picked up and moved...generally being a doctor, lawyer and money lender allowed that freedom. Whereas being having a living that required assets could be stressful...hard to flee a town with the assets but you can always flee with your intellect.
So over a period of time, Jews were eyed with distrust because when they would enter a a non Jewish culture, they brought their intellect, they brought "services" that could not be stolen, or destroyed. The doctors, lawyers and money lenders could easily pack up and move on, and this left communities that were stuck with one and other resentful because needed services that the Jews had brought could simply pack up and move on.
A Russian Tzarist official once came to the saintly Rabbi Itzele of Volozhin and teasingly said, "You Jews say in your prayers 'All the nations will praise G-d for His kindliness done to us [Jews]'."
"Why," he then asked, "Should the nations praise G-d for the kindnesses that G-d does to the Jews?"
"Because," Rabbi Itzele responded, "You non-Jews know better than any Jew how many of you hate Jews in your own hearts, how many of you would deny to the Jews what is rightfully theirs. It is ironic that most of the posts in this thread would be also be considered anti-semitic by the ADL. In today's PC world, proclaiming that a group of people have different behaviors and characteristics either genetically or culturally is considered bigoted.
Let them hate, so long as they fear.
If you watch American TV today, it's white middle class men who are the despised ones. (Including Jewish white middle class men, undoubtedly, but not limited to them -- the hatred is directed toward the white and the male factors). White middle class men are the criminals in the TV drama shows, the abusers on the TV psychiatry/psychology shows, the butt of jokes on the TV comedy shows, the poor slob boobs on the TV commercials.
Yes, I too, saw the tattoo on the wrist of an elderly woman who lost her entire family at the hands of the Nazis. I was told that she "wasn't quite right" because of the horrors she witnessed. I never forgot that. A neighbor of my uncle, who lived next to them in Warsaw, told of watching his wife and child gunned down in the streets. They each had taken one of their children and ran in an attempt to hide from the Nazis when they came looking for them. He was hiding in a basement when he witnessed the murder of his wife and child. It is impossible for Muslims or Nazis to disavow the genocide of not only Jews but millions of people. All this evil grew while the world slept. IMO, the world is at sleep again.
It appears to me that God has not blessed Jews over the millennia, beyond allowing a relative small number to survive. But, in all meanings "Jew" refers to a member of the tribe of Judah. Shouldn't the the reference be to Israelites?
I don't think the world is asleep, just have turned their backs or put their heads in the sand.
Jews weren't the only group an awful lot of gypsies lost their lives to the Germans too. And everyone knows that Russians lost the most to them.
I still don't understand just what it is that makes Jews the chosen ones to hate in this world and for so long.
Seems every group has been the boogie man at some time or another.
I could see if maybe they were a drag on society like welfare recipients for multiple generations or killers again for multiple generations but hate them for being successful? For trying to do well in school? For making the best doctors? Or owning their own businesses.
Ah well guess I'm just not smart enought to get it.
But then I've been accused of not being too smart on many occations.

I don't think this topic is appropriate for Christmas, but since it is here I will add that some Jews can be pretty hateful themselves. It is almost as if they believe they have a free pass to be bigots. However, I doubt the subject can or will be discussed rationally.
I'd like to think so but not if they sit on their asses while the palis lob missles in on them. Not if Olmert gives away their country. Not if Olmert gives away the Golan to Syria from which Syria can watch all of Israel and shoot down on them.He who owns the high ground rules the battle.

Why? Some of it originated in anti-Jewish teachings of the Church Fathers, I am afraid to say, which several states adopted as official policy. Fortunately, Christian anti-Semitism is waning - and then there is Jimmah Carter, an anti-Semite if there ever was one. As for Mel Gibson, he is the son of a Holocaust denier who also believes that Jews are "Christ killers" and is angry at the Popes who say otherwise.
