Judaism is both a religion and a nationality at once. One can be a Christian Jew, for example, or one can be a Jew of Polish descent. Not that it matters, because Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and God worships nothing, He has no religion --- God is the religion. It is crystal clear however, that Jesus Christ was born of a poor, humble Jewish family. To doubt this historical truth and put forth some other silly proposition is to be a liar.
"Yesterday's religion is today's entertainment!"
Ralph Waldo Emerson.
This additional affinity of "Green" (Islamist) and "Red" (leftist-extremist) radicals with "Brown" (..shirt right wing-nuts) is noted, but without surprise.
And mohammed was...............?
Palestine??? nix...!!!
Except that particular distinction doesn't work wrt Judaism since a central element of the nationalist program of Palestinians is ensuring that their territory is judenrein. As a practical matter a Jew can't be a "Palestinian". (Yes, yes. I known that most Palestinians supposedly want a "single state solution" in which Jews would live as a minority. But, c'mon. We all know where that would lead.)
Okay... Hebrew then. It was a nationality, NOT just a religion. What do you think the Romans wrote down in their little census books? Palestinian? More like "Jew, born in Bethlehem", or where ever. Palestinian is nothing except the product of someone's imagination.
Did you hear about the agnostic, dyslexic insomniac? He stayed awake all night wondering if there really IS a dog.
And a nationality. Who was David king of? the Chinese?
Old Ralph Waldo would surely hold those words dear to his humanist heart. He was a humanist, secularist and anti-Christ of prodigious proportions.
"We must get rid of that Christ, we must get rid of that Christ!" -- Ralph Waldo Emerson, from John E Remsberg, The Christ
"Nothing is at last sacred but the integrity of your own mind." -- Ralph Waldo Emerson, "Self-Reliance"
"As men's prayers are a disease of the will, so are their creeds a disease of the intellect." -- Ralph Waldo Emerson, Essays
Ralph Waldo Emerson wanted to rid himself of Christ, which he did, and he died "free" from the benefit of Christ's salvific act on the Cross, poor, tortured soul.
"And mohammed was...............?"
A steaming pile of...
I asked that same question to my 5th grade teacher Sister Theresa... a nun I went to Catholic school.
She told me "God always was, God always is, and God will always be.
well....duh....if that is the case, then why do the arabs hate him and what he stands for....wouldn't he be one of them?
I really don't see what the hell these towel heads know, if anything....ever....
At the time , the place where He spent most of his life, in and around Galilee, in Nazareth, where considered part of Judea. Therefore, He would be considered a Judean by the authority at the time.
Taking religion out of it for just a moment and looking at what is known from a historical perspective:
Jesus was born Jewish.
He was the son of a young Jewish woman named Mary who was descendent from the House of David, a descendent from very real and historically well documented King of Israel King David a Jew.
Mary was the cousin of a woman named Elizabeth, a Jewish woman also from the House of David, who gave birth to a son named John, known as John the Baptist - a Jewish profit.
Marys husband was named Joseph. He was also a Jew.
Mary and her husband Joseph lived Judea, a Roman occupied territory what was once part of the Jewish Kingdom of Israel and they traveled to the town of Bethlehem under order of Caesar Augustas so that Joseph could pay taxes to Rome as did all Jewish people in Judea under Roman rule at the time.
Jesus was raised in the Jewish religion. He went to Temple. He debated with the rabbis at the Temple. Jesus was known to his followers as Rabbi meaning teacher in Hebrew
At the time of Jesus, there are no references made to any Arab people in this land called Palestinians. The only people in the land known as Judea at the time were Jews and their Roman occupiers.
Palestinians are believed to have come to Judea from Jordan at a much later date. Palestinians are not Jews. Palestinians are squatters in a land that is not historically theirs to claim.
At the time of Jesus, the Romans were not persecuting Jews because of their Jewishness. The Romans only wanted what they wanted from any people in their territories obey the secular Roman laws and pay taxes.
Back then the Romans only wanted the Jews to be obedient to the Roman rule of law. Today Palestinians want Jews dead.
Conclusion: Bethlehem is currently occupied by Palistinians. Any questions?
You never "git" anything until you become a militant irritating prig of an activist that constantly uses audacity, audacity and more audacity!!! (and a whole bunch of absurdity helps, too)
Perfectly put. I said the same thing in Post 38, but took the less verbose route.
Merry Christmas
