French philosopher "sentenced" to death in absentia by Islamists

This past September, Robert Redeker, a French high-school philosophy teacher at Saint-Orens-de-Gameville (a small city near Toulouse) and the author of several scholarly books, published an op-ed article in the newspaper Le Figaro. The piece, a response to the controversy over remarks about Islam made a week earlier by Pope Benedict XVI, was titled “What Should the Free World Do in the Face of Islamist Intimidation?” It was a fierce critique of what Redeker called Islam’s attempt “to place its leaden cloak over the world.” If Jesus was “a master of love,” he wrote, Muhammad was “a master of hatred.”

[...]

As for Redeker himself, he soon received a large number of threats by letter and e-mail. On an Islamist website, he was sentenced to death in a posting that, in order to facilitate a potential assassin’s task, also provided his address and a photograph of his home.

Europeans no longer have very many children and their native populations are being replaced by muslims. This is the consequence.

The Muslims are only as brave as their numbers allow; if you make the mistake of letting them in, they will gain confidence, and you will soon get a clearer picture of their malevolent intent.

Well, we have firearms. The effete French do not.

Well it's a good thing the French don't believe in the death penalty or this guy would be in trouble.

It's also a good thing that Muslims believe in (indeed, created the very notion of) free speech so they can show the rest of us idiots.

I'm starting to think I don't have enough though. Time to stop by the store again.

French philosopher "sentenced" to death in absentia by Islamists

French and philosopher, is there a downside to this?

More importantly, the effete French don't give a damn if you're murdered by a Muslim. It's obviously your fault afterall. You must have offended him, so you deserve it.

This is a long article. And the part about how French "orientalists" control the debate in France is a bit slow going. But the whole thing is worth reading. Every American should take the time to read this.

Mark Steyn's "America, Alone" covers this in detail.
It should be required reading for lack-a-daisical Americans.

Actually, there is. I haven't read anywhere else as clear a statement of what Islam is all about as this:

“What Should the Free World Do in the Face of Islamist Intimidation?” It was a fierce critique of what Redeker called Islam’s attempt “to place its leaden cloak over the world.” If Jesus was “a master of love,” he wrote, Muhammad was “a master of hatred.” Of the three “religions of the book,” Islam was the only one that overtly preached holy war. “Whereas Judaism and Christianity are religions whose rites reject and delegitimize violence,” Redeker concluded, “Islam is a religion that, in its own sacred text, as well as in its everyday rites, exalts violence and hatred.”

French, yes. Philosopher, yes. One of the good guys... by all means.

That's what you get for comparing Islaam to fascism. Fascistic reprisals.

Last year I was contacted via email by someone claiming they wanted me to be a guest editor on their online magazine. They claimed they liked my posts on FR.

I was a bit suspicious because I seldom post on FR and when I do it is usually a disparaging remark about islam. I asked them which of my posts they liked the most and never heard from them again. I figure the moose limbs were phising for personal info. We here who comment on islam are probably on some moose limb hit list.

Personally I am honored to be on the list. May the Crusades be Victorious!

While channel surfing tonight, I briefly encountered Paula Zahn's pitiful show on CNN. Tonight, she had three Muslims on whining that people said mean things about Islam. One was a radio talk show host...probably in Dearborn, MI because I can't imagine any other place interested in what he had to say...and a totally incongruous Muslim "comedian", who thought we would learn to love the jihadis if we could just laugh with them. Yeah. I loathe CNN's propagandizing for Islam when they do nothing but tear the Christian faith down.

We're all "sentenced" to death in absentia by Islamists, they just haven't got around to the rest of us yet.
