It would have been just as effective if Ellison had simply crossed his fingers.
We all know he has no intention of honoring his "oath." Using that book proves it. It gives him permission to lie to us.
But he won't be the first politician to do that.
You cannot trust; you cannot treat with; and you cannot afford to empower someone to whom an oath means nothing. He is by definition a man without honor.

At least Keith Ellison won't be involved with pork barrel spending. How will he "bringing home the bacon?"

How the Hell did Ellison get access to one of Jefferson's books?

An excellent point from now-almost-forgotten history that is perfectly applicable today.

It is part of the Library of Congress. As a congressman-elect, he would have access to it.

"Why wasn't our side educating the people as to why Jefferson had this Quran? Cowardice - that's the reason - plain and simple." You may be on to something here. Then again....maybe too many of the people on our side are just plain ignorant regarding this sort of thing.

Our leaders are just like the main-stream media - scared to death of "offending" muslims - for fear of what they might do in retaliation.
To: alicewonders
I don't understand how anyone, born in America, with a college education - would want to convert to Islam<<<
Neither does he!...(view his swearing in )

Ellison probably believes the phrase Barbary Pirates is some sort of homoerotica movie.

Ellison probably believes the phrase Barbary Pirates is some sort of homoerotica movie.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> The Koran is a nothing but $hit on toilet paper, as far as the principles of our constitution are concerned: freedom, balanced democratic government, government of, by and for the people, non violent transfer of power through election. All of these principles offend the Koran and Islam, which dictates the establishment of a dictatorial hierarchy. As far as I am concerned Ellison could have just as well used Hitlers Mein Kamph for his oath, its the same. And the Democrat Congress let him get away with it. Welcome to our pluralistic congress, where any elected whacko can use any piece of $hit book for an oath. Just imagine if a Nazi or a Wiccan is elected, what books they could use! And what does this mean to the enemies of our nation? Politics today is all symbolic imagery. And that imagery needs to be controlled by the people, not by a bunch of MSM freaks or a treasonous elected official.
Makes a person want to puke!
