US Sanctions Russian And Chinese Companies For Iran Nuke Support

2007-01-08 -- WDC Media News -- WASH—Jan 8—DJNS-- The U.S. government on Friday, January 5th announced sanctions against major arms exporting firms in Russia , China , and North Korea for transferring to Iran or Syria equipment or technology “having the potential to make a material contribution to the development of weapons of mass destruction or cruise or ballistic missile systems.” Russia immediately called the sanctions “groundless”, which targeted Russia ’s Rosoboronexport, one of the world’s largest exporters of arms. The sanctions prohibit the U.S. government and limit Americans and American entities from doing business with those on the sanctions list and any of their subsidiaries, subunits or successors.

Russia and China have been assisting the Iranian nuclear and missile delivery program since before 1999, so much so that the U.S. Congress passed and President Bill Clinton signed into law the Iran Nonproliferation Act of 2000. The Act required the President to compile periodic reports for Congress on companies and individuals that were supplying materials to Iran that could be used for nuclear weapons development and missile delivery systems. This Act gave the President authority to suspend business with those supplying such materials to Iran . In 2005, Congress added Syria to the Iran Nonproliferation Act.

Since then sanctions have been placed and sometimes lifted and replaced on firms in Russia, China, North Korea, Sudan, Malaysia, Mexico, Iraq, Syria, and Iran. They have little impact on countries that have no relations with the United States , but can be substantial to companies such as Rosoboronexport. For example, Rosoboronexport now controls another Russian arms dealer VSMPO. Last year, VSMPO had signed a 30-year, $18 billion deal with Boeing, which will likely be affected by the sanctions. Before Christmas, Russia and China agreed to watered-down sanctions against Iran for its nuclear program, but both countries insisted on eliminating stiff penalties that would have impacted their business with Iran .

There is a long paper trail that documents the Russian and Chinese involvement in developing the nuclear program in Iran straight away or through surrogates in Syria . These countries, despite billions of dollars in foreign trade with the United States , seek to destroy America . Usually communist countries use surrogates to do their dirty work. And even though Russia is no longer considered communist, it maintains a Soviet-era political behavior. Americans need to realize that business as usual with these countries is a slowly tightening noose around the neck of the Republic.

Why confine these censures to Russia and China? It's well documented that many of our "friends and allies" have a long and shameful history of supporting all types of global terrorism...AGAINST US!!!

Who has forgotten Bush's "Axis of Evil" pronouncements? Well many more morons have come of age with no idea of anything having to do with the worldwide onslaught against the US and free-world countries.

The Democrats, the MSM and other leftwing enemies would have you believing that we are the bad guys in all of this.

The world has been at war with us for quite a while.
