Kerry Prepares Another White House Run
Washington Post ^ | January 9, 2007 | Chris Cillizza

Posted on 01/09/2007 8:35:25 AM PST by West Coast Conservative

Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) has maintained a decidedly low profile following his self-described botched joke in the run-up to the 2006 midterm elections. Many observers concluded that Kerry's silence meant he had given up his dream of becoming the first Democrat since Adlai Stevenson to be renominated by his party four years after losing a presidential race.

Wrong. Kerry has recently begun to bolster his Senate and campaign staff in preparation for what some Kerry insiders insist is a likely run for president. Kerry has signed on Erik Smith to serve as a senior adviser to his Senate campaign committee and Vince Morris to be communications director in his Senate office.

Smith, who runs Blue Engine Message & Media, served as national press secretary for Dick Gephardt's 2004 presidential bid and previously was communications director in Gephardt's leadership office. He also served a stint as communications director at the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.

Morris comes to the Kerry camp after a stint as communications director for former Washington, D.C., mayor Anthony Williams. Prior to his work for Williams, Morris was a reporter for the New York Post and Washington Times. Morris started officially on Monday.

Asked whether his decision to join Kerry signaled that the senator would be running again for president in 2008, Smith demurred. "Whatever he chooses to do, he is going to have a tremendous impact on public policy," said Smith. "Whether on Iraq or domestic policy, Sen. Kerry bring tremendous political assets to the table and the party benefits when he takes a leadership role."

Mike Shelton at the OC Register has a few good ones. Br> Kerry is an answer to a cartoonist's wickedest dreams. :-)

“ ...he is also seen as a gaffe-prone, has-been by many party insiders.”

True... and he's also seen by most non-party insiders as a lying, treasonous poltroon.

On a different thread, Nov. 19, I wrotet the following:

Guess it will take Theresa setting him straight. But then, she's along for the ride, so why would she? Someone somewhere is telling them what they want to hear, and they wanna believe it: "Yes, you're a contender, you could lead this country; yes, Ms. Heinz-Ketchup-Kerry, you would make a wonderful Queen of the USA, er, I mean, first lady."

And they eat it up. Clueless fools.

It was fun to watch DU in the days after his remarks on the troops in Iraq being stupid. There were some defenders, but there was a sizable minority of moonbats who just simply wish he'd go away.

Since his big mouth didn't hurt them in the November elections, he just might get a pass on the incident from Rat voters. My dream scenario is that no Rat has enough votes wrapped up by their convention in the summer of '08. It's plausible that they will all have from five to twenty percent of the delegates by that point.

Can you imagine the Washington (com)Post's response if George Allen stated that he plans to run in 2008?

We're back to that place where John Kerry
is no longer the focus of our attention,
but rather, simply a nuisance.

Has he actually signed the 1080 form yet?

I vaguely remember he did sign it only to limitted release to one (friendly) reporter. Does anyone else know if this is true?

That way he could say he signed it and still not have to worry about release of anything damaging (like a purple heart for a band-aid wound)

Oh, and did you know he was in Viet Nam? (for 3 whole months and he got 3 purple hearts)

Oh and what about the time they were fired upon and he ran like a rabbit leaving one of his crew in the water for another boat to pick up?

The book "Unfit For Command" was right. (and that would also be in his records if he signed the 1080

This is going to be so much fun.... again...

Personally, I hope he runs. He won't win the dem nomination and I am hoping he will split off and run as an independent, maybe enough people will vote for him to "perot" the dems votes.

These terrorist idiots have the worst sense of timing. They must have NO understanding of American politics or political life. Here is the President going to make an annual State of the Union speech and they pull a stunt like this and in Somalia of ALL places. Duh?

They are in the wrong place and really undergunned there as well. I will love listening to the President when he makes his State of the Union speech this year. I am certain that the speech will be chock full of jaw dropping intelligence and irreproachable foreign policy justification ( if it was necessary ) from the Somalia conflict When this stuff goes on, it makes me even MORE certain of our ultimate victory against these clowns. They consistently underrate and miscalculate the political will of Americans, the cold resolve of President Bush and the military capabilities of this country.

Didn't they also pull a real stupid move in the run up to the last national election here? Ha! Worked out well for Bush.
