CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) -- A man beset by problems since winning a record lottery jackpot says he can't pay a settlement to a casino worker because thieves cleaned out his bank accounts.
Powerball winner Jack Whittaker gave that explanation in a note last fall to a lawyer for Kitti French, who accused him of assaulting her at the Tri-State Racetrack and Gaming Center, a slots-only casino near Charleston, according to a motion French's lawyer filed this week demanding payment of the confidential settlement.
Whittaker won a nearly $315 million on Christmas 2002, then the largest undivided lottery prize in U.S. history. He took his winnings in a lump sum of $113 million after taxes.

Are you sure this wasn't one of their other models? There's the Gallardo, Diablo, and Murciélago nowadays.
He could have started with taking a shower, getting a barber's shave, and wearing some different clothes. He needs to hit on a few women to bring his smile back.
All I know is I sat in it and it smelled new. Beverly Hills Lamborghini takes special orders. The guy that owns it is not a dumpster-diver. I don't ask stupid questions for people like this to answer. It had the trademark Lamborghini Countach signature right above where the license plate is. These people ordered it and got one brand new.$
Gambling separates fools from their money so they can't do any serious damage with it. I am all for it.
Oh, well. It must have been a pre-1990 car. Owners generally take very good care of those cars and they're reconditioned by professionals before resale.
Here's the original story of his win.

Thanks for posting that story. What a fall!
The left wants the world to believe that conservatives want everyone to be poor. Conservatives realize that poor people are the most expensive segment of society so we really want them to be able to care for themselves.
A dumbshit and his money are soon parted.
Ummm, make that $500 thousand.
I think if I had all of those things happen to me so soon after winning that kind of money, I'd get a CLUE that perhaps God wanted me to use whatever was left and do something GOOD with it. Didn't this man have a construction company prior to winning? Think of what he could do with his knowledge, some of the money, and a group of volunteers working down in Katrina-ravaged Mississippi? (NOT NEW ORLEANS)
He still could turn his life around.....
I've heard it too.
HOW does that happen?!!!
Do they just blow all the money and THEN some?
Do they refuse to say no to all the family members who come begging?
What is the tax rate on lottery winnings?
IS that what gobbles up the money?
I wouldn't make a move to collect the money until I had a lawyer and an accountant/financial planner on the case advising me to the penny.

Anyone who wins this kind of money and doesn't put it in atrust is just asking for trouble.
They didn't collect 300 million, they would have purchased an annuity that paid a total of 300 million over 25 - 30 years.
He got the amount that the annuity would have cost. The payout from the lottery authority is the same with either option.
As it is, he would have only received about 55 - 60 million after taxes. Still, that should be enough to keep anyone out of the poorhouse.
Add another zero to that sum, Bob.
Guess he is going to the casino in hopes of hitting the big one....
Gamblers are idiots!
