I would be laughing if I wasn't at work. Sadly that's how things would play out now.

Well, if we would just build more jails, we could accomodate everyone.

I understand the intent of the article. The problem is that the 'good ole days' weren't so good either.

Sooo true, that's what makes it funny.

I gotta complain though. I was so used to boy names that when I got to "Mary turns up pregnant" my I read "Mark turns up pregnant" and it confused me how that happened.

That first one though....man

I graduated High School in '90. While going to school we could have our rifles and/or shotguns in our trucks and cars because a lot of students went hunting after school. Some of us went at lunch but don't tell anyone. We just couldn't take them inside or we would get suspended for three days meaning getting are arses beat by our dads.

That was just in 1990, so you really don't have to go all the way back to 73.

It actually was 1973 when I had to demonstrate something in class. So I brought in some gunpowder, some empty 12 ga. shells, primers, etc. and demonstrated how to reload shotgun shells in class. No problem.

Come to think of it I remember one year being in the junior high (middle school now) parking lot and and having the instructor pour three 12" lines of different types of gunpowder on the sidewalk outside. He lit em to show the difference in burn times. 1986.

In grade school I think it was 4th grade for halloween I came as a cowboy complete with 2 revolver cap-guns, fully loaded and if anyone asked I "shot" em. Good thing I brought plenty of "ammo" with me as well cause a lot of kids were getting "shot". That would have been 1982.

"The problem is that the 'good ole days' weren't so good either."

Yep! But, but somehow we lived thru them in spite of actually having a chemistry set in the basement,a shotgun in the closet, bb guns, slingshots,bows/arrows galore and NO WARNING TAGS on the stuff!

Additionally, we played outside, ran like hell, climbed trees, dug holes and seldom got sick...And no one we knew was hyperactive...OR, maybe we ALL were?

I also remember playing around in the neighborhood in constuction sites after hours.

The universal call home was Dad going outside and yelling our name, by the tone of the yell from half way across the neighborhood you could tell if you were in trouble or not.

I can relate, I graduated in 1991 and we used to drive to school in the morning with our .22's, 30-30's, shotguns, etc. in the gun racks, fully visible, in the school parking lot, not one problem. Nobody said a word. Nowadays I'd be lucky to get parole by 2020. Gotta love the brave new SWAT world that we've been handed. Man I love the war on drugs.

OR, maybe we ALL were?

I certainly would qualify in todays standards.

We might be pretty close with that "degrees of separation" thing. I had this forwarded to one of my email accounts just yesterday. LOL
