btw after today Howie is being dropped in Burlington VT
(WVMT 620, for Jerry Doyle) and Keene NH (WKBK 1290, for
a local host whose old slot is being taken over by
Glenn Beck). Howie has mentioned this on air and he's
not happy about it (I've read online that it's possible
Entercom, which owns WRKO, may have increased the rights fees or the stations had trouble selling advertising; Howie says he hopes to be back on in those cities)

btw I don't work for Howie or Entercom, but I've been
involved with radio for over 25 years and I regularly
take part in radio messageboards, etc, online. I try
to keep you informed when it comes to news about
WRKO and/or where HC is on your dial.

The WVMT site lists no changes yet but I understand
today's the last day for Howie; as for WKBK it says
the new afternoon show starts Monday. (Actually
for now, the WVMT "personalities" page lists O'Reilly
1-3 pm and then Clark Howard 6-7 pm but Howie
is not mentioned at all, though the "schedule"
page still lists him)

Howie had Tom Tancredo on yesterday and he said that the syndication fees had been increased and he was losing 3 stations.

Yes I heard part of that but missed a couple minutes; the third I believe is WTPL-FM 107.7 Hillsboro/Concord NH or
maybe WVOM in Maine or someone else, not sure who.

http://www.aim.org/special_report/5160_0_8_0_C/

"Several speakers, including Senator Bernie Sanders and Rep. Maurice Hinchey, declared that they think Congress should use a new federal "fairness doctrine" to target conservative speech on television and radio."

Hollywood celebs attended the conference, which was funded by a group subsidized by George Soros.
Among the exhibitors: The Revolutionary Communist Party (RCP) and 9/11 Truth (who feel that the US govt
carried out 9/11)
These folks, the writer says, feel that Hillary is too conservative.

"Reaching new levels of hysteria, Rep. Maurice Hinchey said the survival of America was itself at stake because "neo-fascist" and "neo-con" talk-show hosts led by Rush Limbaugh had facilitated the "illegal" war in Iraq"

Hinchey was a guest on the Laura Ingraham show and insisted that he wanted her to remain on the air.
Nice of him. He denied calling Limbaugh a fascist. Ingraham said she preferred a country where the free
market forces, rather than government intervention, dealt with talk radio.

Senator Sanders (D-People's Republic of Vermont) claimed 99 per cent of talk radio is conservative.
Air America, NPR, and Democracy Now must not exist in Comrade Bernie's world. ONLY one per cent.?

Yes and many disgruntled listeners have called Howie on air to complain...he DID say that MAYBE he may get back on and that Doyle may just be "temporary". It could be that Entercom
(hamstrung by recent hires: Finneran, and the Red Sox)
has to cut corners (see: firing of news team) and try to get maximum $$ from the stations running Howie's show. When a station like WVMT can't afford Howie, off he goes...As Howie has said it's not his (Howie's) fault, and not WVMT's
fault.

WVMT unfortunately is in a small radio market but may be getting billed "big market money" to carry Howie...
hopefully he'll be back or maybe the Zone 96.7/960
might consider running HC though right now they have
Hannity on during that slot (billed as "the Irish
propagandist" by reg. Howie caller Steve from Montreal)

I rarely listen to Howie, but he's a conservative voice in this liberal wilderness. I did buy his book about Whitey Bulger for Mr. Trisham, who thoroughly enjoyed it.

The suspect in the fatal stabbing Lincoln-Sudbury High School is led into Framingham District Court for arraignment this afternoon.

One student is dead and another is being arraigned now on a murder charge following a stabbing at Lincoln-Sudbury High School this morning.

Students are saying the fatal stabbing was a beef between a new student and a 16-year-old who reportedly squared off in a bathroom at the center of this large suburban Boston school. Middlesex County District Attorney Gerry Leone identified the victim as James Alenson, 15, of Sudbury. The alleged assailant will be arraigned later today on a murder charge. (Update: he was arraigned a short time ago)

The stabbing victim was brought to Emerson Hospital in Concord and pronounced dead at 8:12 a.m., said Bonnie Goldsmith, a hospital spokeswoman. The stabbing is believed to have happened in the hallway around 7:40 a.m.

Leone described the stabbing as “an isolated incident between these two students.” He added that, “We don’t know or can’t say anything about the motive or intent.”

Massachusetts Education Commissioner David P. Driscoll said what happened today, “defies explanation.”

“What happened at Lincoln-Sudbury today is everyone’s worst nightmare,” Driscoll said in a statement. This appears to have been an isolated incident between two students, but it is still a horrific tragedy and will have a lasting impact on both students, faculty and the community.”

The accused assailant in the murder entered Framingham District Court for arraignment at 2 p.m.

Hey, 2nd hour is the DEATH POOL! How could you leave that out? ;-)

Burlington/Plattsburgh is something like 89 or 90th in the market, last time I checked the Drudge Radio affiliate list.

Seems to me there were a few on FR making the same arguments when I first signed up. Don't know where they went. Actually, a lot of the arguments were pretty convincing . . . not that that will get him anywhere.

because I was working some OT...

The first two callers didn't even ask for Fidel in the death pool -- then the third one did, and a few after were cursing because they wanted to!

Ted Kennedy made the cut, and that Ed Brown who's fighting the IRS (because we trust our gov't!).
