Though Bobby Jindal hasn't announced whether he will run enter the upcoming governor's race in Louisiana, I am encouraged that he will once again challenge Kathleen Blanco for the position. Earlier today I received the following email message from BobbyJindal.com:
Diane,
We are looking to recruit a few individuals to help us organize our Grassroots efforts for Bobby Jindal in your parish. We would love to have your help and input!
Essentially, the Grassroots Leadership Team will be the organization of the campaign in your parish. The team will help organize and coordinate the grassroots efforts of the parish. It is a group of individuals who work with the campaign and help organize other volunteers.
Please let me know if you are interested by replying to this email or providing me the requested information found below.
We have an excellent team and look forward to you joining as well.

Things are looking up for Louisiana!
Comments?
Good luck to Mr. Jindal. He needs a win.
Run Bobby, run!
He's got my vote.... again!
Good. I remember seeing that poll here.
He's a good man. If they had been smart enough to elect him, things would have gone a whole lot better.
Thanks! This is very exciting ... and it will be a proud day when Blanco gets the boot!
It's his race to lose.
I'd vote for him if I lived in Louisiana.
I know you need him in La., but I wish he would take out Mary "Brown Roots" Landrieu instead.
I'm not sure he can win a statewide race. The party might be better off trying someone who would run stronger in north Louisiana.
However, if the democrat machine in New Orleans is not back in working order, he might have a shot this time.
I thought he had already announced. He already hit me up for a donation.
I'm no political guru, but Jindal is polling 60% statewide. I am in northeast Louisiana and there is great anticipation of his candidacy. Many folks who did not vote for Jindal in 2003 have regretted that decision and will vote for him this year.
Blanco did not win by an impressive margin in 2003. Basically Shreveport, Baton Rouge and New Orleans put her over the top. She has lost support in these areas because the government dependent are disappointed in her performance during (and after) Katrina. Those disappointed have relatives in the northern part of the state and their opinions have been driven to some extent by those directly affected. Also, many that vote Democrat no matter what have vacated the state and have not returned.
Lastly, I can think of no other Republican in Louisiana who has the exemplary record and name recognition of Jindal. As fieldmarshaldj opined above, it is Jindal's race to lose.
If I recall correctly, it was in November that Jindal said that he was exploring the possibility of running and he asked for donations and volunteers to indicate how much support he might have. He said at that time that he would make a decision after December. While there still has not been a formal public announcement, the email I received clearly references a campaign for governor and it is probably just a matter of time before an announcement is made.
I apologize ... I mentioned your name in post #13 and neglected to ping you at that time.
S'OK. ;-)
Some one else will take out Contrary Mary in '08.
Regards, Ivan
