Why is "Christian enlightenment" an oxymoron?

The Enlightenment was an 18th Century European movement of philosophy and science which stressed the supremacy of reason over religious revelation or ancestral tradition

Atheism is a superb example of a modern metanarrative — a totalising view of things, locked into the world view of the Enlightenment.

true enough, but my reply was to a tangential post.

I did not capitalize. I was referring to the virtue, not the movement. Smith himself speaks of an "Invisible hand" guiding the capitalist. Are we to infer some godless movement from that?
Marxism is much more a product of the Enlightenment than is classical capitalism. Capitalism is a product of mere enlightenment.

In my religion, by the way, reason and faith coexist.

“We represent millions of people,” Curtis said of the protest groups that are coming together as one voice."

Wow! Look how many kooks and nut-balls have come together out there, speaking with one voice.(sarc)

This reminds me of when Ft. Hood wanted to expand back in the seventies. The land owners and the communities put their foot down and said "Hell NO!" (OUR LAND,OUR LIVES)

Please come out and state that you want no more private land taken for roads in this country.

I dare you.

Well, I'm not the one posting countless articles against the TTC or NAFTA Superhighway.

If you can't or won't defend your positions, I think everyone should wonder why.

You have a position. Calling me "bossy" is not defending them.

UH, NO! Clearly you missed my (sarc).

I couldn't find a link for the 70's expansion of Ft. Hood TX. but, I was born and grew up around there. The Military wanted to use eminent domain to take more land (some 400 sq. mi.)(to add to the 250,000 ac. they already had) surrounding the base. (they wanted to test cruise missiles and didn't have enough acreage) The land owners and surrounding comm. (I believe it was called, Our Land, Our Lives) got together and said NO Way! After a lengthy court battle, the military backed off. Chalk that one up to the people. Hopefully, the millions of people who have raised their voices in opposition to the TTC, will also prevail.
